Parkview at Hillcrest might actually be closer than any of the other games listed. I don't think it will be a fun game to watch, just close.
Cabool at Salem interests me for SCA GOW. Cabool may run away with it, but playing at Salem may boost the Tiger's confidence

Willow Ava for me. Been impressed with Willows play last few weeks. Ava is getting healthier and ready to pull a few upsets with districts about to start up.

Ava WS for me,,,, such an injury plagued season, but I think Ava wins. Cabool and Salem is just sad. But surely Cabool wins. Salem will be 0-10

Ava’s freshman quarterback has been quite impressive since his first start. Needs to bulk up some in the off-season but he has a great arm, good speed and a high football IQ when it comes to decision making running the flexbone.

Willow is without their QB and First two starting RB's, unless they get healthy this week. Ava should throttle the Bears. WS really pizzed one away last Friday they had to be inside the 20 five times and came away with Zilth......not kicking the PAT and tying the game was not a wise decision either. Their Kicker was 50%....go for two is usually a less than 50% success rater.
Thayer's coach did a great job of managing the game with minimal players....kudo's to him. Looks like he learned well from Webber.

Impressed with the job Hancock is doing at Thayer. Kids could’ve easily gave up after some bad losses but they are still playing with some fire. Only knock I see is that he could use some work using timeouts in crucial situations with a very young team and only about 20 kids dressed out. Don’t believe he used one the entire game against Willow. Also not sure why linebackers are playing so close to the line of scrimmage pre snap. Hard to read and react playing that close as a linebacker on every snap. Once Willow ran the ball past the line of scrimmage Thayer had to hope our secondary could make a tackle. Easy fixes and with more experience as HC he will get it rolling again for the bobcats.

Our linebackers were up close and personal as well. We didn't stop 20, 1, & 7 but it gave us better chances. I'm old school myself and prefer they be up there and the safeties/corners not being 25 yards off the tight ends and receivers allowing all those short passes for first downs or a slant and go for a big play/td. Either they get up and play the game, or sit back there and watch most of it before they react in my book.

MGHS we had 1 kick blocked. And our kicker is only kicking extra points due to a knee injury. He probably shouldn't even be out there but he's a senior and that's all he's allowed to do. If we didn't have that 1 blocked I'd say coach would have opted to try to tie the game. Hard decision either way there.

Wolves looking for an outright Big 8 East Championship will not have an easy one with Mt Vernon. Should be a great game. The Springfield toilet bowl will be interesting Willow-Ava has the potential to be a good one. Is Willow going to be healthier?
But give me Cabool-Salem as Game of the Week.

Hard to play sideline to sideline and plug gaps playing that close. Plus you’re giving the oline an advantage showing which gaps you are responsible for pre snap and im not saying they should play 10 yards off the ball but 3 to 4 yards off where they can read and react and not get caught in traffic.

Oh the 3-4 yards I get. But I've seen many high schools, colleges, and even my KC Chiefs have the linebackers deeper than that especially late in games and then wonder why the opposing team scores a td or field goal to win the game when your defense had them shut down the first 3 quarters. That part always makes me scratch my head. But I do like the up close and personal linebackers especially against the old school power I, wishbone, Thayer T offenses that pack everyone together and ram it right at ya. It's how we got the wishbones of Salem stopped years ago. And of course I know that coaching is much easier from the bleachers

He appears to be mirroring Webber 100% which is smart. Experience as you said will make time management more fluid. I think maybe the LB depth is more of a issues this year because of the lack of Thayer Talent and it's easier for teams to get to the second level.

SO even more reason to kick it...the PAT was blocked.....shore up the LOS kick PAT go to OT and being at home win in OT. That is my opinion. With that said T.Payne has done a great job this year at WS. As you know I've said on here several times he is a good one and can coach. But in that instance I think that was a mistake as well as running the ball on the 2pt conversion was suspect. At no point in that game did I see WS having the dominate LOS players.....if going for 2 points I might want #4 & #5 involved in the play as opposed to running #35 against a host of Thayer DL/LB who had more salt in their pants than WS OL. Just my opinion.

Thayer is in a 5-3 most of the time and the LB at 1-2 yds are not coming all the time some time they do step back to read and react, the OLB/DE what ever Thayer calls them have force/Contain. And again I just went back and watched the first 20 defensive plays of last years WS vs Thayer game and 25 plays of the Thayer vs Grove game and if anything Webber had His ILB in the Gap more than Hancock. It's sometimes was hard to determine and analyze film with Webber defense cause it looks like 8 guys are standing on the LOS. If you want go to some of the Streaming Sites....KSMO/TDH/WillowBears/Cabool sites they have archived games from last year and you can see for yourself that Webber and Hancock are doing the same things. Now if you want to debate that playing a Mike/Mac backer that close is not a good idea well that is another subject. But all I know is I have watched Billy Webber do it with great success for a long time and believe me I'm not going to question his Defense or offense for that matter he was a special Coach.
