SCA goes 3-5 to start the season. Not ideal.

Not often do teams like Grove and Liberty get manhandled by teams more physical than them.

Not often do teams like Grove and Liberty get manhandled by teams more physical than them. Grove was definitely going to take a step back this year. But not that far back. Liberty is the real head scratcher. Ripko was the real deal last year. And many expected Pruett to fill that same role. At the end of the day if your offensive line isn’t performing then a star athlete isn’t going to matter. Half the posters on here thought Liberty was the favorite. Other half chose AVA. majority had Grove 3rd. But that may prove to be wrong. As we may be 4th or even 5th

Not trying to offend, but Liberty has line play like that the rest of season they are a middle pack team at best. The reason I and many others liked Ava so much more was the fact the sole reason they didn’t get first last year was injury. Now that Ava is healthy? They should get back to the finish line. Liberty was a good team last year. But Ava would’ve been better.

Tidwell, Lane, Dixon and Adams can run the ball very well. Adams looked like he hasn’t skipped a beat and Lane is a dual threat quarterback, something Ava hasn’t had in a very long time. Our linebackers look great with lots of speed and are quick to the ball. We should learn a lot about the Bears after they play Strafford. It’s hard to judge Ava after the Buffalo game as the Bison might not win a game this season.

I agree Ava was the odds on favorite to win the SCA this year and that still is ago... but let's not retro actively give AVA last years title because of injuries. Every team has injuries etc. over the course of the season.
And maybe MV will be a middle of the pack team because of their Line play but I just finished watching Houston play Orchard Farms and Salem play St.James and I think MV is till in the hunt for the upper top 2-4 teams in the SCA.
I'd say at this point Thayer has moved into the # 2 spot(but it's real early to tell) with MV and Grove fighting for the 3rd/4th. Maybe Cabool will be the dark horse player. Houston lost at home, Salem Lost at home, WS is Willow. It's a bit early to throw MV out of the hunt and declare the Sca champ.

Strafford isn’t anything to write home about. I’m judging the talent on the field. Ava didn’t have anything left after injuries, we aren’t talking someone losing a lineman or a skill player. We are talking an entire room at a position. Makes a vast difference.

We have played 1 week of games and you have made Ava the SCA champ for last year and this year already. lol There is a lot of football left to be played and I dont think anyone has a good enough handle on Ava, Liberty, Strafford, Buffalo to really know where things stand yet. I think we all agree that Ava is the favorite right now with how things went in the first week. But lots can happen. And in regard to last year I would have loved to see a full strength Ava and Liberty play last year. It would have been a good one. But no way anyone can convince me that it is a foregone conclusion that Ava would have won that game.
