Week 3 of the season, Week 1 of SCA play. As I look at the schedule it looks like this week will quickly set the tone for the SCA standings. At least measuring the first 2 weeks everyone is evenly matched with their week 1 opponents.
Grove vs Ava - both undefeated and scored a lot, and was my preaseason pick for conf champ to the winner (yes I know the season has to be played and as whacky as things have been who knows)
The rest of us have had many defensive breakdowns whether it be the new system/coach or just the fact we got very young teams. Some of us can produce points but have to have a momentum start before we can. I am not seperating the top two mentioned from the rest of the conference but I do believe whichever teams grows up the fastest will be the succesful ones, including our undefeateds as they have had issues too. Hang on folks, it's going to be a wild ride, and good luck predicting things.

I will say every year in small schools as we have they could be considered "young" teams or "rebuilding" . its just part of the process. coaching turnovers are hard I agree, Grove had 3 in 3 years and it could be said one year they had no head coach. It football, you line up and play cause next year will be different players once again.

when was the last time Liberty started 0-2? Would have lost every penny I own that they would handle Aurora. Thats why you play the game.

Gonna be a slobber knocker in grove. And will liberty start 0-3? It's hard to figure out Liberty this year so far , they go from Rags to Riches and back to Rags again about 3 or 4 times in both games so far this season . If we can't shake the turnovers we won't be beating anyone . The Ava and Grove game is gonna be worth watching for sure , It seems that Grove has the most complete team at the start of this season , Ava is usually a very strong team throughout the year but I don't know if they have really played anyone strong enough this season to prove themselves yet .

That is from quite a few different spots. Willow improved on their turnovers from 6 to 3 And of course my text messages werent much prettier. I heard that NFL Follies was coming to film SCA football for 2017 Ava - I picked them at the beginning of the year because they were to return the most players, etc etc. BUT.... Swofford told our coaches Monday night at the jv game he didnt have many he could send to play our kids because he was only in the 30s himself. What in the H-E-doublehockeysticks is going on around here? I'm not in panic mode yet but dadgum folks .....

its early boys. the fumbles and turnovers should slow down. every team has had a young QB or rb start before, nothing new here. What I see most is SCA has left smash mouth hard tackling football to some degree. everybody wants to score on the big play. Mostly passing play. You just don't have that kind of talent year in year out. That why the spread can make you look like an all pro coach or a bust. I would dare to say a lot of schools don't fear facing us in a physical game as they did 15 , 20 years ago or sooner

I was shocked MV lost to Aurora ...but I suspect after the janitorial staff etc. is lined out the eagles will get back on track. Ava will be a issue for Grove they will have a LOS advantage or at least on paper they do, will the panthers Trenchers step up? Glad the game is at panther stadium.

I agree with mghs. I think Grove won't have much issues on scoring but I'm hoping our line will step up and not get ate up with three to five yard gains all night long and make the score a little bit lower. Seemed like penalties were slightly better last week thankfully.

Some really interesting matchups this week. Ava and grove will be a war. I want to say Ava wins but hard to go against grove at home. I will say grove 28 Ava 27 Liberty and Thayer will be interesting. Can Liberty rebound from two disappointing weeks? How good is Thayer? Liberty rights the ship by a TD here. Cabool and Willow. The loser does not win a game this year. Toss up here. Cabool 34 Willow 32 Salem and Houston. Salem builds off of last weeks win and gets things going. Salem 41 Houston 20

Returning starters for Ava who have played a lot of more varsity snaps give them a Los advantage. Plus we play more LOS guys both ways. I'm not saying their LOS guys are better just not as green and could be less fatigued.
