Assuming we will have a season (fingers crossed), what will happen?
Thayer will be loaded.
Ava will take a big step back, but have a great staff in place.
Liberty lost some key players and will have a somewhat new staff.
Salem will have a new staff and whoever knows what will happen in Dent Co anymore.
Mtn Grove will take a step forward but how big will that step be?
Willow lost a ton to graduation. Fans here will as always be overly optimistic.
Houston lost a few players think, but not sure.
Cabool who knows.

Cabool who knows. My predictions 1/2 Ava/Thayer - This is for the SCA title. Ava lost a good group of seniors but they also return a lot of talent. In the past it would seem like Ava would wear down Thayer in the 4th quarter for the win. 3. Houston - I told many people not to sleep on Houston last season but I feel like injuries really limited them. I could see them making a run at the top of the league if they stay healthy. 4. Grove - I absolutely love what Coach Rogers is doing in Grove. I think he will restore that program to its former glory soon. Just not quite this year. 5. Willow - Willow was playing high quality football at the end of the 2019 season! After nearly upsetting Ava on senior night they would soon go to the district championship game for the first time in years. I know they lost a huge senior class but hopefully that district championship game taste from last year makes them hungry for more. 6. Salem - Not sure about the biggest school in the conference. Hopefully their new coach will be the one who leads them back to their glory days. 7. Liberty - I was shocked to learn of Coach Acklin leaving Mtn View so I think they take a step back. How could they not? In my opinion Coach Acklin was the second best coach in SW Missouri (Scott Bailey #1) I cant wait to see the new stadium though! It looks beautiful! 8. Cabool - Not sure about Cabool. Hopefully they can get off to a good start early and make some noise and turn some heads.

I think Cabool is going to be pretty solid with the potential to compete for a conference title or at least push Thayer in their district. I know Thayer returns a ton and only lost a handful of seniors, but Cabool has big JR class coming back. Remember they only lost to Thayer by 6 in the district playoffs.

As stated in the other thread started by BMAC, I have no clue what we are going to have at Willow. We graduated several starters BUT, the jv lost only 1 game by 6 points in a game that they weren't mentally in. This in itself raises question marks because I have seen the pendulum swing 2 different ways when schools have promising up and comers. What few starters we return will be leaned on ALOT plus returning some kids who havent played for a couple years should add some depth at key positions. Some of these jv kids did fill in on Friday Nights but was it enough to say they have Friday Night experience or are we baptizing by fire the Monday Night players? Also losing a really really good defensive coordinator who the kids loved will play a factor. Do the kids keep that work ethic up or do they take a step back? So Willow is a Dark Horse this year - AGAIN . Is that dark horse a thoroughbred or a Shetland? We won't have that answer till about mid-season or end of season. I do believe this is finally Thayer's year to win it all. They only lost 3 players off last year's team. Having said that I have made this very prediction of saying it's between them and Ava the last couple years and jinxed the Bobcats, so I am sure they green folks don't want me making predicitons, lol. Salem and Liberty have made coaching changes, Liberty twice - they too will be question marks on what they have and how they respond to those coaching them.

My opinion and mine alone. If we do get to see a full season and I hope we do,if any team rises above it will come down to the kids that put in the work on their own. This just might be the year where you really see the team leaders stand out.

Ok here goes - and as usual I'll be wrong, lol
1. Thayer 2. Ava 3-8 is just a tossup for me 3. Surprise team of the year Cabool 4. Willow/Liberty winner 5. Willow/Liberty loser 6. Salem 7. Grove 8. Houston
Grove was 0-10 last year I just dont see them jumping up that fast and Houston has struggled at the younger levels. I have heard good things about improvement from both camps so if I am wrong I am wrong, lol.

Ava according to Coach Swoff they got some real good players on the roster Liberty..was going to go Thayer but their QB went down at WP....HAAHA DEW you picked to early Salem they Return a lot of good players QB etc. Thayer still got some pieces to work with but without Captain it could be tough. Cabool returns some nice Skills and a few LOS guys as well they should be salty Grove I hope all the soph and Frosh that played last year have seasoned up Houston Got some good up front players but Skills are unknown Willow they lost a ton of Seniors and you don't recover from that easily.

Ava---was going to put Thayer but someone posted their QB has a broken collarbone?? Liberty---new old coaches?? Same schemes?? ya put them in a close second. Thayer---They still have plenty if the QB is able to come back towards the end of the season to possibly win it all. Willow---lots of youngins this year.. Salem---Weren't they supposed to be good at one time?? Houston---could easily move up if they stay healthy. Cabool---will make they district finals to face Thayer again. Grove---hmmmm

Some of the coaches are saying this may be one of Ava’s most athletic rosters ever from top to bottom. They have almost 60 kids on the roster this year. We lost some truly great players from last season but it sounds like the team is hungry and has worked extremely hard in the offseason.

For those moving Thayer down I get it. But I'm going to leave them right where they are. They only lost 3 players total from last year's team. I know nothing about their backup QB('s) but they will still be loaded on defense. Their offense may slow down and they win 21-7 instead of 35-7, but I'll stick with them nonetheless. Hopefully it helps influence Bobcat61 to take me to Fred's again

From what I am seeing here, it should make the conference be up from year's past. Only time will tell. While I dont think we will I do believe we have our best chance to start 8-0 as a conference as we'll ever have. Good luck everyone.

Contenders: Ava, Thayer, Liberty, Cabool. I think these are the only teams who have a shot to win the conference. Liberty and Cabool are far less proven, I would easily put Ava a rung above in addition to Thayer with or without their starting QB.
I think Salem, Willow, and Houston are in similar situations, could be 5 to 6 win teams. Grove will be improved but I think they're still a 3-5 win team at the moment.
If you held a gun to my head I would say:
1) Thayer 2) Ava 3) Cabool 4) Liberty 5) Salem 6) Willow 7) Houston 8) Grove
