Salem had several good Qbs during the Option Era. Chad Keefe 91=123-986-174pts-8-2record Played Fb in 90. Tyler Dillon Dont have stats, Tyler was a 2 year starter at QB. Also a outstanding DB. Joe Schuchardt 99-130-1085-120pts.-12/1Record Lost in Semis to Helias 7-0 00-195-1604-120pts-13/1record Lost to Platte Co Finals.. 25-2 Record Class 4&3. Sorry no passing stats No disrespect to to Belongy or the other outstanding SCA QBs. And I have great admiration, respect and love for Joe. But Mr Acklin in my humble opinion is the best SCA Qb. He would have started and flurished on any system and/or team in the state.

His legs are what made him so good.

Acklin would of been a WR in a lot of system and might of been the best in ever. He was a athlete playing QB and was good, but not at the top IMO.

It's fun to think about if Jerod Hicks at Willow would have been playing in the style of offense from today. He had a ton of rushing yards and it was all from under center. Imagine him running read option out of the gun, he would have been unstoppable.

Page Belongy in 1981 finished with over 2200 total yards. For all the info I can find, that was the SCA record until Jared Emery broke it in 2004. Belongy's total was probably the equivalent of close to 4000 yards in today's game. Josh Pruett is the current SCA record holder with 3687 yards in 2016.

Funny to see a RB like Johnson be up there for most passing yards in a game.

I'd say Brett Mitchell from Ava is the best QB they've had IMO. He could throw and Run. Was smart and also was a dang good College player as well. I rarely think of Ava and traditional QB's even before the Flexbone was the system.. Seems like they always have more of a Running threat of a QB who can throw just a bit to keep the Defense honest. Johnathan Batchellor (sp?) From like 04-08 for Ava is the best they've had IMO. Believe he was a 4 year starter and one of the great TRUE QBs to come through the SCA, he wasn't just the best athlete who happened to play QB.

He was good..I’d take Mitchell over him though. Maybe that’s because JB never had much success against us.

True, and Mitchell was a little before my time so I'm biased. When I was like a Freshman was when Batch, Richie Roepke from Strafford, and some QB from Glendale whose name I forget were the hot talk around the Ozarks. The spread had just made it to the area at that point. I remember Ava ran the PISTOL(!) NO HUDDLE (!!) and that week of practice it felt like we were playing some sort of revolutionary offense.
