Had we not had those 5 turnovers its a different ballgame, maybe go into ot. Having said that they did happen and we didn't overcome them. Most impressed for me and some comet fans said too, our boys didn't quit. Yes I know it takes more than that to win ballgamesand there's plennnnty to work on. Don't count Ava out just because of injury. The advantage for them is it's week 2 they got plenty of time to right the ship. My change for them would be to 3 with liberty/grove being sca title game. Keep an eye on houston. Thayer Willow Cabool i believe can beat each other so who knows. I now think Salem finishes last. But we play the games to find out With conference play starting we'll eventually separate the jeckyls from the hydes. I don’t necessarily want to count them out. Or think it’s time in week 2. But there’s a lot of questions. And Hunter Adams answered 3-4 of them on the offensive side of the ball. Class 2 is small enough to have a RB like him and find some success and take some pressure off of other weapons. But it’s hard to believe IF 2-3 people don’t step up to see them overtake MVL or MG. Although while saying that? If any team faced these questions and lost their best player and overcome it? It would be Ava. I saw a lot of people outside the SCA hating on MVL this season. Two predicting heads like Ned out of Springfield had them going 4-5 this season. I think there’s quite a bit of athleticism currently in MVL If we lose our QB we are in worse shape than Ava… No one should count Ava out but they do have some work to do to adjust. Counting MV out is pure ignorance…but the press is full of that a lot of times.

I watched the streaming of the game and Marionville was a much better team than The bears and forced 3 of those TO. In the second half the comets went ultra conservative substituted a lot and basically knelt on the goal line by just running the the RB as opposed to actually running the QB for the easy score. The comets could of in the second half made the game ugly. In 4qrts of play I saw 6 offensive plays that where well executed by WS. Dew I get that you are always overly optimistic but this is going to be a process and WS might be improved on the field and not improve in the Win Loss column. Thayer is better and *edit just watched Cabool vs Harrisburg and that is a push as well with WS might be slight edge….Salem has talent but only 4 seniors healthy so that game is a push.

I'm not an expert anylist, but as I see it at this point the SCA is Liberty's to lose. If Grove can stay healthy and improve they have a real shot as well. Can Ava pull it together and overcome injuries and a "new" coach, that's yet to be seen of course.
Any of these three have the same opportunity at district as well.
I'm not quite ready to say Cabool beats Thayer but is very possible. Then Salem and WS is a wash. I really thought Salem would be better this year, than they have been so far. WS, sorry DEW, just isn't there yet, if they can get a coach to stay more than a season or two then they will be more of a threat. Just mho.

The Eagles weren’t that great last season and lost some talented seniors. At this point I’d say Grove is the favorite by a wide margin. They have a very talented senior class who have steadily improved each season. I just don’t see Mountain View winning the SCA or the district.

MG is the kind of team I could see getting better as the year goes along. Not that they are not good now.

I’d say with Pruett back at QB along with Ripko at WR and with the OL they have they are the unmitigated favorites for winning the SCA and District. Clearly their Offense is high octane and can score at will from anywhere. Defensively they attack and create havoc. They have yet to be challenged and very well might not be challenged all year until the playoffs.
Grove has to best a banged up Ava Which is a tall order in it’s self to do. Before thinking of MV or being the favorites to win the SCA…..Ava is no doubt the slight favorite on the road, Dixon,Goss,Stout, and Tidwell are easily good enuff coupled with the best OL in the SCA anchored by Mahan,Little and Evans to run over Grove with the Fkexbone.

Again I'm not an anylist and can only base my opinion on the two games played so far. I don't have any other information as some of you do. I simply state "at this point". I'm sure I will own a different opinion Saturday morning when I see all the Friday night scores.
Yes Mtn Grove is tough, as they always are, and as long as they stay healthy will continue to improve. They have a better than average chance to win it.
The problem all three have, is that it's hard to beat competitive teams twice and to win the district at least two of the top three (Ava, Grove, Liberty)will face each other again. Or do I completely misunderstand the situation?

Good chance that two teams will have to meet twice to win district.

Yeah some seem to be forgetting that Liberty dealt with some pretty big injury issues last year. But we will see.

No telling how this will end up by seasons end, but, thinking Grove has been the favorite before anything happened this year. The margin has just grown.

The current administration ain’t as fun loving of Blunt force talk as the past administration was!!
I do know Houston and Cabool are really high on their teams and a lot of their fans feel that the OLE Tradition and Excellence squad is vastly overrated. And ripe for the picking.
I’m not counting out Thayer they can’t be over looked.
Salem is struggling but after watching them play twice they have the pieces to win on any Friday they just are young with mostly JR/Soph/FR dominating the starting 22.
