If you go to the Mosports board you will be surprised at the overt support for the Privates remaining in the Public playoff system. Even a few Public school coaches are Pro Privates remaining... the mental gymnastics they go through is mind boggling in a effort to justify rogue mercenary Squads playing by different rules to load up and beat public schools to gain some Sham Hardware.
The issue is that Local School Boards don't exert their authority and force their Administrators to do what is best for the Students they represent. The MSHSAA board does a Great job of Propagandizing and Bamboozling those Administrators into allowing the Privates to Compete in a unfair way versus Public Schools. It's amazing the Lies and Half Truths the Spew out. Public schools out number the Privates by a wide margin and could easily vote them into a separate class. But strangely when that comes up to a vote it always fails. It pretty obvious that a lot of Local Administrators ignore the will of their citizens and bow to the MSHSAA boards wishes. I've never encountered a Public School fan who is Pro Privates being in the Public school playoff system.
I've often thought that any player injured playing these Rogue Division One/FCS feeder Private schools might have a Civil Suit vs Private Schools and MSHSAA . If a good Lawyer showed the disparity in talent over the aggregate of public schools of the same size that the case could be winnable because sometimes you have high School teams facing Squads that are basically college level talent across the board. If that was the case then the only option would be to split the Private/Public because of the constant possible continued litigation from parents and players do to the inherent danger of the situation. In this day and age with a continued focus on Football and the Violence I'm really surprised some Ambulance chasing Lawyer hasn't weaponized this aspect of the situation. You could possibly even do a massive Class action Law Suit against all the Schools that voted to put players in Harms way with the system that they voted for and allowed such a plain and constant danger to less gifted public school kids.
