Maybe it's too late to get some discussion started on tonight's game. A couple years ago this particular thread woulda had about 13 pages (doesn't it get old saying stuff like this?) especially after the Ava QB's confidence on the O-Zone.
Good vs Evil is what Grove/Ava fans have referred to this game in the past, I'll let you all decide who is what. In any event, this clearly is the game of the week/first 3rd of the year. So does anyone have any analysis beyond a simple prediction?
I could see a number of things happening, but I have a feeling Ava could keep it close. Many times I've watched Ava come out against a much better Liberty squad and hang on or beat Liberty when you'd think they wouldn't. They might be able to do that again here. Swoff is arguably the 2nd best coach in the conference right now and his kids are clearly gonna be fired up.
With that said, it would not shock me at all if Short and co come out and ran for 500+ as a team and won by 21. In this battle of the veer, I think Grove is better equipped. Not to mention after what it seems like many believe was a lost year last year, Grovers seem to think they are on a revenge tour this year.
I'm not willing to say Ava will beat Grove but I think this one will be #HellaClose. I think Grove 28 Ava 26

I think that this will be another strong win for Grove. Preseason weakness for Grove was they had a new head coach. I think that they have proven that will not be a issue. With returning almost all of their starters from last year it should be the same results. I'm sure that Ava has improved but so has Grove. It will be the Short/ottwell show.

Seems like it's always about beating Grove.Even with Liberty's past success it always comes back to Grove.Ava and Grove, always a good rivalry.Think Grove has the thought that last year the team was just kinda put on autopilot.I would have to agree with this. Now Ava calling them and Liberty out.Not the best of ideas unless it can be backed up.Gotta go with Grove in this game. This could be a statment game.

Not sayin its gonna happen but cj talked a big game and were able to back it up and slay the giant. Playing at home with confidence could be a big factor but get punched in the mouth early and its all out the window

Great game by the Panthers! They were big and executed their game plan. We looked like we had no confidence and executed horribly on both sides of the ball. Best of luck to the Panthers for the rest of this season!

Groves offense was still just average but the defense was nails as they shut down the Ava qb until he was knocked out of the game.
