The Springfield area keeps hyping the FG Eagles. How good are they? I remember how the Strafford Indians were hyped a few years ago, how no one could slow down their speedy receivers. They had too many weapons. I remember one of those speedy receivers talking before that game saying they were the "fastest thing on grass." Well guess what? Lamar had them down 48-10 midway through the 3rd quarter. Strafford scored a late touchdown to make it respectable. Now this Fair Grove team has speedy running backs and tall receivers. Are they the new "fastest thing on grass?" I guess we will find out in a few weeks.

I went and saw them play a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday night at Catholic. They won a close game that night and could have and some would say should have lost. They did not look, up to the hype that night, although dont get me wrong they did not look bad. In there defense, I have since learned that they may have had a receiver or two out of the game that night.

Actually they were missing their two starting guards and nose guard. They were also playing with a hurt center and had 6 points taken away because of an inadvertent whistle. Don't know how good they are but class 2 verse class 3, can't really handle missing all those players

All teams are playing without key players from the start of the year. It is part of the sport. Lamar has been playing without one of the top athletes in the area since week 3 and are playing a Class 3 schedule. Last night, the leader of their defense, a defensive tackle went down for the season with an ACL tear. Every team plays games or even seasons without players that they were depending on at the beginning of the year. It's next man up.

Don't speak that over our boys. Nothing of the sort has been determined at this point. The same, or similar was said about Hardman. That proved not to be the case.

I think they are good for their schedule, but won't be good enough to compete in districts (playoffs). Honestly, I doubt they could beat many of our SCA teams. Cabool and Houston would probably even give them a good game. We are in a much, much better conference and play rougher football.

This week we get to see how good Fair Grove really is.
Last night game marked the return of the all-state DT for Lamar who played limited snaps despite suffering what doctors said was a season ending knee injury.
