Week #9, the FINAL regular season week of 2016. It seems like only 2 weeks ago we were playing non-conference games. This football season (and this year) are like Amtrak, it was moving fast!
After much discussion, and to some it will be disappointment, ET and myself have decided to end the Dew/ET review. There hasnt been much response as it is, and we also believe if every game is individually posted by someone that chat will increase instead of decrease. We appreciate all the support that we have had, and will continue to do all we can to make this board a good one. So for the final time (for the record we didnt review districts/playoffs) let's take a look at a SCA football preview -
Liberty at Houston - Yes, it will be the senior's last home game on the field at Houston, and the 2 programs mentioned here are going 2 different directions. So I do expect Houston to put up a fight but Liberty has way too much firepower. I also expect to see the Eagles rest some starters for this week and opening round of districts, so the score will be lower than expected unless a big run by Liberty or a big letdown by Houston happens. Eagles 35 Tigers 7
Cabool at Salem - The Blue Tigers are only scoring 16 points a game while the Dogs are only scoring 12 on average. Both offenses have struggled. Both defenses have as well, so something has to give here. Salem does have wins on their record and Cabool does not. Earlier this week I contemplated predicting an upset, but this game is in Dent County. I will say that I believe this game will be closer than most think, and if I am wrong, it wont be the first time I am going to make this my game of the week Salem 17 Cabool 14
Willow at Ava - The Bears win, hands down, lets get ready for districts . Ok enough of my lame jokes I don't see me being on Jimmy Fallon anytime, lol. There is still plenty at stake here on this game, district seeding being one of those. The other is, and get this folks, if Willow can win they would finish THIRD in the SCA (currently 3-3 and Ava is 4-2). Both teams have had some ups and downs this year, and both are on winning streaks. The negative for this for Willow is this game is on the hill, and they have a QB who is hard to stop. The positive is Willow played their most complete game last week despite both teams in a game missing 3 players apiece. Like the last few weeks, I wont predict a score, but I do believe Willow has a chance. This game will depend on momentum and which Ava/Willow teams show up.
Grove vs Thayer - 2 teams who like to veer and then pass just to keep you offguard. At the beginning of the season I liked this as a game of the week, but Thayer just isnt gealthy right now. If I heard correctly these players wont return until round 1 of districts which is more important. Thayer is better on defense than offense though, and may hang around till the 2nd half. If Grove can get a jump on Thayer look for starters to rest here. Grove 28 Thayer 14
There you have the Dew portion of the review, and now to Mr. Eagletimer
Thanks Dew and great job my friend as always. Time flys when your having fun! Here we are week 9 the final regular season Friday night! Let's get it started one last time!
Liberty at Houston,,,,Liberty looks to close out the season undefeated and collect their 3rd straight SCA title Friday night. Houston while struggling this season it is Senior night so look for some fight from the Tigers. To much firepower and the Eagles look to finish strong headed into district play! Eagles 45 Tigers 6
Grove at Thayer,,,,Grove travels to the Land of the Green Mist,,few weeks back I would have said this would have been a good game. But the injury bug has hit Thayer hard. Look for Grove to ice this game early. 42-7
Cabool at Salem,,,,Salem finishes the regular season with a home win. 28-0
Willow at Ava,,,, First let me say congrats to Willow on last weeks win. I thought Thayer's defense would be the factor in last weeks game. But it was Willow's D that pitched the shutout. This week with district standings on the line this is the SCA game of the week,,,no pressure Dew,lol. I favor Ava at home in a better game that most would have thought a few weeks back. 35-21 Ava on the Hill.
There it is my friends our final Dew/ET review of 2016. Please as always feel free to discuss! Also thanks to my good freind Dew for allowing me to be part of something he started.
