With the season starting and the trash talk certainly not far behind... thought it would be a good time to hear some good stories or good things you have experienced from other schools in the league...

Grove... I have shared the story about a playoff game I covered against Branson in 1989, I think, when a large group of Grove fans stood and cheered not only when their team took the field but also when the Pirates came out... that and any school that employees Duane Hiler is good in my book... not to mention they let me crash their pregame party and fed me even though I was clearly a visitor..

Being from grove..liberty has such a great fan base for football..when you go to the nest everywhere you look it's red white and blue..also it's great the way the have the American flag hanging from the bucket truck!

Thayer - They load up the bleachers in a hurry there, and a very hospitable town for the size of school they are. Plus they have a HUGE parking lot compared to other places. It's been a few years but they are the ONLY town that has ever served beans and cornbread (hint hint!!) when it started getting cooler.

Reeds Spring - beautiful stadium and setup. MoSooner doesnt only broadcast and support the Wolves he supports the whole Tri-Lakes/COC area. If a local kid goes to a college somewhere in any sport, he posts pictures from their signing day.

Eagletimer & Joefish are a lot like MoSooner (other than being Liberty fans

) when it comes to supporting their kids, along with another guy over there who dedicates all his spare time trying to fix the place up. I also like the friends I made from the other towns besides these 2 nuts

I've always liked Ava....Coach Silvey, Coach Spurlin, Coach Williams and Now Coach Swofford. Of any team in the SCA we seem to be of similar types. Great rivalry but it doesn't seem to be as personal or at least the discord is left on the field.

Willows pretty cool, people are nice and friendly not as hard core and Nuts as Grove types but still Good people to hang out with.
