It's nfl draft week. It's a possiblity Jaelon could be drafted. He's predicted 7thrd/FA. I would tend to lean towards the free agent. Either way he will be on an nfl team this time next week. I was curious if anyone in the SCA has ever been drafted into the NFL?

The only NFL connections I know of both come from Ava. Brett Mitchell got a quarterback tryout with Dallas after he did so well at Evangel, but they took Quincy Carter instead (see how that turned out). He didnt make it all the way through preseason before he was released.
Tanner Purdum was also a QB at Ava and his dad was a coach there for awhile. He played at Baker University. He changed positions in college. He played longsnapper in the NFL for a few years, mostly with the New York Jets. He went to the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent but they had a phenomenal longsnapper (Kendall Gammon) already and the Jets took him from there.

I was unaware of Tanner Purdum's success in the NFL, so I looked him up. Kendall Gammon was actually long gone from the Chiefs when Purdum came around in 2010. But he did have a nice career with the Jets from 2010 to 2017. He never missed a game or had a single errant snap, all together he appeared in 112 consecutive games. He was cut from the Jets during last season and actually just retired about a month ago. Long snapping made that man a multi-millionaire, very neat. Congrats to Tanner on such a long career

We have our rivalries amongst each other's towns. But for the SCA and southern Missouri, may this kid make it!
