What in the world happen to the tigers? I expected this to be a competitive game although expected the same result. Looking at the final score it doesn't even look like Houston even showed up?

Houston has had 2 recent losses of a teacher and a former player who was coming home (from Virginia I think) to watch his teammates play. They carried his (now retired) jersey to honor him at the game, and Ava even had his name on the Houston roster with "prayers for the family" to the side of it. I still believe Ava would have won, but it's more than understandable that Houston just wasn't in the game. Mr. Clifton's funeral is tomorrow I believe, at the football field.

While I hate when these tragedies happen, it does make me glad we have a small town conference. Just a few short years ago we lost a freshman and the Salem folk were more than generous in helping pay tribute to him at the jv. game. - Just last year we had a teacher who had leukemia but was able to beat it, but Cabool folks bought orange shirts and football equipment to support our fundraiser for her. I'm sure there is more stories like this across the area.
Yesterday there was a tragedy in the Vanderbilt/Tennesee State game (not sure how the players emergency head surgery had turned out)and the coach said that yes there was a game and people always involve coaches/players with football but they are people first. This week has sure reminded me of that.
