Came over expecting a little more chatter on this game. For the first time in a few years the game seems to be a toss up on paper. Should be a good one.

Should be a good game and I know a lot of Ava fans will be making the trip. Unfortunately I won’t be able to make it as I am scheduled to work a double header of Missouri State women’s basketball and then volleyball. Hopefully we get more chatter going on here with the game only days away!

This ought to be a pretty good game! I honestly believe it will be a toss up game but I could be wrong.... And I already want to thank the Lamar community for reaching out to us to make sure we know all the good places to eat and stuff! And I know there should be a decent amount of people coming that way Saturday morning!!!

Who knows, I guess it could be a toss up. I thought Cassville was gonna be a big player in C3 after they beat Lamar but then they ended up getting waxed by Mt. Vernon which sort of made the win over Lamar not quite as impressive. And if we're going off score comparisons you can tell Ava has improved immensely since they lost to Buffalo by looking at how Buffalo and Ava both played against Fair Grove. I'm not saying Lamar is not very good or anything like that, just that this game could be closer than we expect. Lamar does not appear to be the team they were in years previous and Ava appears to be much improved since their single loss.

Slomo Here’s a few things from someone who hasn’t missed a Lamar game since 2009.
Lamar lost to a Cassville team who was fully healthy. When cassville lost to MT.Vernon? They didn’t have 3 of their best players. And lost another two in the second half.
Lamar isn’t quite as unstoppable good as in years past. But still a great team. I think a lot of people don’t get this. Being as good as Lamar was, makes it hard for people to see falling off from that level means you might just be good now. Or pretty good. Lamar is still in that level.
Ava is a great team. This should be a good game. Just surprised to see this many people down on Lamar over a loss. And not beating everyone by 60. There’s still levels before mediocrity....

I never said Lamar had fallen to mediocrity. Just meant they weren't at the level they've been previously. And Ava played em close, so my assumptions turned out to be pretty on

helluva effort Ava. I really did not think it would be close.
I think this maybe the year Lamar gets knocked off.

It just shows what kind of program they have when they have a down year, but are still playing in the semifinals. Ten straight years of at least the state semifinals is quite an accomplishment. They are bound to be better some years than in others. The previous seven years, before the season started, I felt like they had the best team in the state in Class 2. Those teams were able to overcome injuries with the "next man up" attitude.
This year, I thought that everything would have to go their way to do so. This team was not as deep in certain areas, and injuries have occurred in the area with little depth. We started the season with 4 senior defensive backs that were very good players. Now after a lacerated spleen 3 weeks ago and a broken leg in the quarterfinals, we are now playing with a freshman, and an offensive back that hasn't played defense for a couple years. Both are very good players, but have little experience.
Lamar is not going to keep winning every year. But, as long as Coach Bailey is in Lamar, they will be in the running. And considering where the program was before he got there, that is quite an accomplishment.

Must of been a heck of a game and Kudos to Ava for giving it there all. Lamar was the doormat of the Big 8 for a long time so the rise is very impressive and then the ability to maintain that rise is even Bigger.

Any truth to the rumor this was Bailey's last year as head coach. Heard through the grapevine he might be taking an AD job.
