This matchup deserves its own thread. This has become a nice matchup over the last couple of years.
Lots of talk this year about Lamar not being as good as the Lamar of the past. Must be nice to be so good that you can have a down year and still be playing after districts.
Lamar may not be as good as in years past, but the reality is Ava is not as good as the last couple of years either.
Would love to see SCA come out on top here, but just don't see it. So yes I see the same ole same ole happening again this year.
Lamar 34 Ava 18

Lamar beats Ava, but I suspect Ava keeps it close for a half. But to much talent for the Tigers.
35-14

Lamar and Ava have had two classic battles the past two years. I don't see any reason that this year will be any different. Both teams like to run the ball. So, I think it will be won in the trenches. By what everyone on these boards are saying, both teams are down compared to past years.
I don't know anything about Ava except what I've seen in their matchup with Lamar. In the first game, Lamar was fortunate to win as Ava rallied and had a chance to win late. Last year, it was a back and forth battle with Lamar scoring late to win a nailbiter.
I think that this Lamar team improved a lot from early in the season and is playing their best ball in the second half. Good luck to both teams and I hope the winner of this game wins it all. I think that the game will be won again in the final minutes, Lamar 21-20

One thing is for certain... Coach Bailey and the Tigers have nothing but respect for the Bears and their coaching staff. UP or down, we know that the booger county boys will be bringing it. We welcome Ava and wish them good luck travelling up here.

Ava Defense is real solid I expect it to do well, on Offense Ava is a 2 horse race. Their QB is good and can make plays. Of course their FB is a load but upfront I'm not sure that Ava OL is that good. That could bode rather poorly long term as I could see Lamar forcing a lot of 3 and outs and that will wear on Ava Defense.
