There have been some mammoth battles between Lamar and various teams from the SCA. Seems those games never disappoint, unless you were an SCA fan,,,, in the past. This last one was disappointing for the Lamar faithful but the grit and determination that I witnessed from the Ava Bears makes is slightly less painful. I recall the feeling of excitement and anticipation when Lamar was just starting to get the realization that Quarterfinal football or Semi-Final football was within our grasp. It was a hard fought football game that was well officiated, so that it could truly be determined by the men on the field. I could feel the excitement coming off of the Ava fans and players, alike. It's an awesome feeling and I'm happy for the Ava community as it can transcend just parents and football players. Use this example as proof that, when you band together as a community, great things can and will happen. The "Thank you, sir" responses that could be heard from your kids when Coach Bailey was talking to them after the game were sincere and a telling sign of the quality of kids that you Ava parents have raised and Coach Swofford has helped to develop in Ava.
Now, don't let this be the top of the mountain! You're just resting on a ledge, right now and you've got further to climb. Get it done, Bears!

I agree with LHSTiger81. Ava beat Lamar and got that monkey off their back. But, they are not done yet. Don't feel satisfied in just being in the semifinals. Ava belongs where they are. Play with that same heart and desire this week against Clark County and all the hard work will be worth it. Getting to the state championship game will be a dream come true. Lamar will be pulling for you. Good luck Bears!!!
