Which school in the SCA has the best radio play by play announcer?
Would love to hear your opinions! I know we have some good ones in the SCA!

I like the Ava announcer....sounds like he comes from the 20's or 30's in his style very interesting in this day and age.....the most colorful,most blunt and most Passionate is Brush Fire Mitchell from Grove. You either love him or not so much...I love him. Gary Lee from MV is pretty good as well.

Mike Crase from KKountry 95 in Thayer hands down. They also have a pregame show which is mostly Thayer related, but they will talk about games not only in the SCA and WP, but in Arkansas as well.

Gary Lee from MV is pretty good as well. Yeah good as long as you dont want to ever know the score or the game situation. Thayer guy is good. Willow is good. Havent listened much to Ava or Grove. |

There are a lot of good guys in the area. I dont weigh in on a lot of things like this because, I am either involved or dont want to talk negatively about fellow announcers... But since the question is limited to SCA and no negativity I will weigh in
If Joe is still doing the games in Ava, it all stops there.. dude is an old school pro
Thayer guys are very solid as well...
Now for entertainment... its THE GROVE. From a pure enjoyment factor you wont want to turn it off...

There are a lot of good guys in the area. I dont weigh in on a lot of things like this because, I am either involved or dont want to talk negatively about fellow announcers... But since the question is limited to SCA and no negativity I will weigh in If Joe is still doing the games in Ava, it all stops there.. dude is an old school pro Thayer guys are very solid as well... Now for entertainment... its THE GROVE. From a pure enjoyment factor you wont want to turn it off... I know it's an SCA thread but I've listened to you a few times. So we are in 100% agreement....Ava guy has a way with words, uses old school terms.....Skinny 2 and 5 etc. And the Grove guys are just fun to listen to as you stated and if allowed they could kick it up a notch.. |

Not really heard many of the others to make a fair pick.Radio or at the games most of the times.So guess Ill have to go with Crase,or also known as Redbone.

I mean come on he's got to have a few more years in him. I’m honestly not sure how old he is but he’s been broadcasting Ava sports for decades! I’ll be incredibly sad to see him retire from it, he’s first class! Hopefully after this season he’ll decide to do one more season! |

Gary Lee has now credited Josh Pruett on about half a dozen plays so far in tonight’s game, Josh graduated about 4 years ago I believe. If that gives you any idea...
