So I have questions, and these are research questions hoping someone knows -
It was rumored, at least in Willow after West Plains got their turf, that the state was going to require turf within so many years and if a school couldn't comply that if the state ever held neutral site playoff games the turf sites would be hosts. That rumor has since died but it is a curiosity as mshsaa does weird crap anymore.
Was told that to play on turf you got to have different shoes or cleats on the shoes. If so do parents/schools have to accomodate for that or can they play in their regular cleats?
Is this the same turf that colleges and the NFL use? If so I've seen many achilles and knee injuries as a player's foot would get caught in the turf while being tackled.
Will the rest of the SCA eventually have to join in and get turf?
These questions sound like I am against the turf, I am not. I am however on the fence about turf vs natural. I know that some states require turf no matter what. I also lived in Alabama where there were farms that growed the grasses we see on our natural fields and sold in rolls. Yes they sell those rolls for other things than football fields so I dont know if they take a hit on this or not. I have seen Willow have to re-plow and resurface our field 3 or 4 times in the last 30 plus years, I don't know the $$ amount spent to do that. If turf is cheaper in the long run maybe it's worth it?

I don't have to justify it at all. Because there is nothing to justify. Some Schools/Administration/Community members are much better at how they go about working within the system and obtaining services. Other schools are lacking or not willing to go the extra mile and do what is necessary work wise for their Students and community. And that is 100% totally acceptable if the Communities are satisfied with subpar facilities and underachieving expenditures per students ,I have no issue with that at all because I believe each community has the Right to do what they see fit for their students even if it is Less than what I would want done for students in my community. They are your students and your concern not mine. Clearly you seem to have a issue somewhat with Grove Getting Turf and want to Imply("I know exactly how things work and exactly what is going on here") that Our Administration is Robbing Peter to Pay Paul and doing harm to the educational experience that are offered to our students which Is Clearly not the Case and would never be accepted in the Community as a whole. SO clearly you are Clueless about what is going on in Grove and how things work here. Your suggestion is patently False or a complete untruth. The Truth is we are Late to the Turf Party so to speak there are a lot of schools our size or even smaller that have Turf in and around the state.....Hollister has Turf, Forsythe has Turf, Festus has Turf,Windsor Turf,Blair Oaks Turf,Boonville Turf,California Mo Turf,Clark County Turf,GrandView/Hillsboro Turf,Hermann Turf,Lathrop Turf,Macon Turf,Monroe City Turf,Potosi Turf,St.James Turf,South Callaway Turf. So as you can see a Whole slew of schools have Turf that I can name off the top of my head who are the Same size or smaller than Grove and the other Schools in the SCA , I'm sure that there are other schools I didn't name that have turf as well that fit our range of size....but I guess all those Schools can't justify having Turf either as you have implied. No the Truth is that Schools who don't have facilities like ours need to look within and take responsibility for their Failures, incompetent management and leadership as a whole. And of course you can justify not having adequate facilities how ever you see fit...ie trying to insinuate that those who do have nice facilities are doing something untoward in obtaining said facilities....of course that is your right no matter how in error you are. And We will enjoy our Field. I am not against any school getting turf or improving their facilities at all. Liberty upgraded their situation recently and it was way overdue and much needed. Completely fine with that. Houston is upgrading their gym and again way overdue and much needed. So I am not against upgrades and progress. I just think it is a really bad look for a school that already had the nicest situation in the conference coupled with the fact that a lot of people are suffering and dealing with difficult situations in places like Grove right now. And listing a bunch of other schools that have turf already is not even close to a part of this conversation. If Grove had done this 3 years ago I would have said nothing at all. But clearly the world we are living in has changed. I do not know the specifics of how things work in Grove, but I know the specifics of how things work in small schools that exist in the SCA. And you are kidding yourself if you think everything is just fine and dandy in the world of Grove. You guys make choices on how to spend money and those choices showcase the priorities of the community. You guys clearly prioritize football/athletics ahead of anything else. I am quite sure it would not take long to walk the halls of your school to find programs and people that are not happy with these choices and are working to do the best they can with under funded work. And in the world we are living in right now that is a really hard sell to some people. But I am sure all the guys in the barber shops and the local bar will be happy with this situation so it is spun as being all good.

Requiring Turf has been bantered back and forth but at this time isn't a requirement. You can wear regular shoes on this style of turf. Yes many colleges use this Turf...Not sure about NFL. OU is one of them that has it on Practice field others on playing surface. The cost analysis is that it's a Push or a slight savings, but when you factor in that now the field can be utilized more often it was a no-brainer.

You are 100% in error if you even believe or suggest we prioritize athletics before education....complete falsehood. And of course not everyone is going to be on Board with spending money that isn't going to benefit them and what ever they want....small sample size and not indictive of what people in the Churches,Barber/Beauty shops,Rotary Clubs, bars and community centers want it wasn't a hard sell once the Fact where put forth. But you can believe and view it in what ever twisted way you want.
People in Grove are about a Complete education and Doing what is best for the Student Body. And that is the Path we are taking. We don't need to spin it as being good it is good for everyone in Grove.
Your insinuation reeks of petty jealousy and envy. And to disparage our Superintendent,AD, School Board and Community leaders is a bit much. But well within your rights if that is how you want to conduct yourself.

Truth hurts sometimes. Spin it however you need to make yourself feel better. I did not "disparage" anyone. I am sure all the people you referenced are fine folks. I disagree with their decision and I am entitled to my opinion and I know my opinion is shared by others who don't like rocking the boat. And you are entitled to your opinion.
I am not jealous at all. In fact I am quite happy with my schools record over the last few years, and I think we have a nice winning streak against the mighty Grove and now it will be nice to beat them on such a nice new turf field.

I 100% agree you are entitled to your opinion even though it is based on zero facts or truths. You can spew erroneous information to your hearts Content, but it will still not make it the truth. A opinion based on non-truths is the definition of pure spin. And I wouldn’t be proud of a opinion based on foundation of lies and non-facts. But that’s your right I support.
Not only are the Folks in charge fine people they clearly work harder and smarter in a effort to provide for Groves students. That is plain-fully obvious.
I feel for the student body and community of other schools who don’t have people in charge who will do their do diligence to provide the best for their students on all fronts.
Clearly the attempt to bring in the on field actions of late into this topic is a very clumsy attempt to hide your true motivations on propagating untruths, since the two issues have zero correlation. Nice try though.

So you claim that I disparage the leaders of your school then you proceed to do that very thing to the leaders of the other schools in the SCA. Pot meet kettle much? The leaders of Grove work so much harder and smarter than all the other leaders around the SCA? Give me a break. Get down off your high horse and see the real world. Aren't the rest of our schools so very lucky to be able to be even in the same conference as the great Grove and their leaders. Why we should all thank the good lord above we can even be on a message board with a few of you guys.

Speaking the Truth is not being on a High Horse....and the Truth clearly is hard for you to handle.....Because the Proof and Facts are we have done what is necessary to Provide Educational Opportunities while also equipping our Student Body and Community with Top flight facilities, that enhance and benefit the educational experience for all students.
If you cannot see the difference Between how your Opinion doesn't actually line up with the Facts then that is on you. Funding for Education is not being impacted by the addition of Turf by one penny. That is the reality and truth to say otherwise in unfactual.
When a Community provides all encompassing benefits to it's students in all aspects and activities, and another person Points a finger and says that cannot be possible and that the Leaders of said community are doing something fishy to provide a benefit by harming another benefit well that is disparaging, because it's not true and to be blunt it's a Blatant Lie founded on your opinion which is in error. You can post your opinion all you want but it's not authentic.
The difference in what I posted about the Leaders in and around the SCA is not disparaging because it's the Truth not a lie, if Grove can do it and other communities across the state as well then surely others in the SCA can follow suit....if it came across as belittling that is your interpretation not mine. While I think Grove's leaders are smart and hardworking I by no means think it's impossible for others in the conference to up their game.....if it's' a priority to provide a all encompassing educational experience then surely they can do so if that is what is wanted within the community. If not then the status quo will remain intact.
I will point out again other Communities can see things differently and have different priorities and values so I say live and let live, .....It wasn't me who Threw Shade without facts on how you believe things are being done in Grove. Remarks that clearly implied by you that the Leaders in Grove where harming the Educational experience and prioritizing athletics ahead of education, you said as much. Remarks that again have no bases in merit, facts or truth Just statements you pulled out of thin air. I suspect we all know the motivation of why you did that ..but I digress ... I know how things are being done in Grove and they are on the UP and UP and nothing is being short changed for Turf. If you can't believe that then I guess you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it Drink.
I guess it's just human nature for some to look at others who work smart and hard to believe if they achieve more the only way that it could be done is if they did it in a dubious way. If that is your belief it is clear I cannot change your mind but I will continue to point out that you are voicing disinformation and untruths.

It is not the truth, it is merely your opinion on the leaders of the other schools.
We are going no where in this discussion and neither of us are going to change our mind. So I am going to go back to ignoring this place until we get closer to the season starting.

It is the truth about Grove we our not short changing education by a penny. That is not a opinion but a fact.
And as far as other schools go if they don’t have the ability to do so for variables that are different than those in Grove then I could be in error. But I concluded from your previous post and how you stated that most SCA worked the same that if Grove could do it than clearly other schools could as well if it was a priority.

what is getting lost in the mix is a couple things. 1. Our previous upgrade was funded by a very large donation. A donation that covered almost all of the upgrades. If you look around Cabool, ava, Liberty and Willow have made some very nice upgrades. Were those done by donation or taxpayer money? Since our previous wasnt then we had the same money to spend as everyone else 2. We can now host track meets as our old asphalt track wasn't considered safe. Ive also been told that the band will be able to use it instead of the muddy practice field they once had as well. hopefully that are can be paved and more parking added.

Yes the track had to have a upgrade it was not serviceable and as I said in a previous post this has been several years worth of planning. As I stated no money that would be or could be allocated to education has been or will be used. This plan has been well thought out and several factors like past donations and such has allowed it to come to fruition.
