How do you think things will shake out this football season in the SCA. I think you’ve got a heated race between Liberty and Ava at the top but Cabool, Thayer and Grove will all have something to say about that.
My predictions... 1. Ava (they won their team camp at Evangel last week against some great competition. They are participating in another camp there next week against different schools so it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. Losing most of our offensive skills players to injury was devastating last year but gave valuable playing time to the underclassmen and that has appeared to have paid off well this summer. Also I’m wearing my blue and gold glasses with this pick)
2. Liberty (they beat an Ava team that was playing its first game without it’s team leader and talented quarterback. Liberty won and brings back a lot and logically I should probably put them at #1 but that’s no fun)
3. Grove (I’m a big fan of Coach Rogers and what he’s doing with reviving the Panther football program. What started as young players getting a lot of playing time a few years ago has turned into some solid upperclassmen players with quite a bit of playing time under their belts. Trust the process)
4. Cabool (Cabool shocked me last season not only when they played Ava but watching them play against top teams in class one with Thayer and Windsor. Coach Spittler is doing a great job here and adding coach Acklin to the staff is a great get)
5. Thayer (They lose some great players from last season but they’re still Thayer and will knockoff some of the top teams)
6. Willow (I’ve heard big things from Willow ever since they hired Coach Wyatt. I do believe expectations should be tempered just a bit in year one but the future is bright for the Maroon bears and the SCA has been put on notice)
7/8. Houston/Salem (Can Houston finally get the win against Salem?)

1) Thayer-Webber and Talent equals number 1 2)& 2A)Liberty/AVA these two teams will battle hard for 2nd or even first 4)Cabool My Dark Horse to win it all and with Acklin added to staff that is very possible 5) Grove-Got some talent but still unproven and got a lot of work to do. 6) WS Wyatt will coach the WS boys up put it doesn't happen overnight usually 7)Salem a boat load of talent but a young unknown at the HC spot 8) Houston I think this could be a rough year for the red tigers.

Not sure how I'm going to pick but I do believe it's between Thayer and Ava for the crown. After that no clue. One thing about my predicitons though - nobody can ever take them to heart cause I'm always wrong

Not sure how anyone “wins” a 7 on 7 matchup. But I think I get what you are meaning by that.
None of those teams last season were very good regardless of school size. Let’s temper the significance of this a tad. It’s is July.
I’d say
LMV Ava/Thayer (Only if Thayer’s losses were that significant overall otherwise 2) Mountain Grove

Anyone that thinks Thayer is finishing 5th in the SCA needs some serious help.
1a. Thayer 1b. Mtn View Liberty 2. Ava 3. Grove 4. Cabool 5. Willow 6. Salem 7. Houston

Oh, well I think my point is still mostly correct. Anyways, those were all still bad teams. One or two of them for sure parkview didn’t win a game last year.

I’d say LMV Ava/Thayer (Only if Thayer’s losses were that significant overall otherwise 2) Mountain Grove The evangel Camp like the Branson camp is full contact with various situations...3rd down challenge, 1st down challenge, Scrimmage, goal line etc. But some places do sit up a camp winner like was described. Word is that Ava was pretty dang dominate, with schools like Aurora/Mt.Vernon etc. there. QB was sharp, FB was a load and defense was scrappy.

While Parkview and Central are not real good Big school programs, but they are still big schools with players with a lot of physical attributes. Waynesville is pretty salty and talented as well. Reed Springs is pretty good, Hollister is getting better, and Aurora was very very competitive last year and Beat Buffalo in the regular season. I think the Evangel Camp was a pretty good mix of High Level smaller schools and physically talented Bigger schools. Ava standing out there is a Shot across the bow of the Rest of the SCA. People better be on notice that the Bears are loaded and ready to compete at a high level. I know for a fact they have a top notch off season program, a Flexbone system that is hard to scheme for in a week, and a Defense that plays to the echo of the whistle. Thayer, Liberty, Cabool, Willow Springs, Grove and any other Program wanting to move up the Ranks better be focused and pounding Iron this summer or they will come out on the short end of the stick Win wise versus Ava. To think that one injury laded season is the Norm for the Bears is a folly of a thought process.

Houston Yeah No way that Thayer ends up 5th.....Sorry Bearup that seems a bit crazy IMO. The only way that happens is they have some injury plagued season. Even last year they lost the best player in the conference for over half the season and they still came out smelling like a Rose.

I was discrediting the significance of this camp and the teams In it. It can be not real impressive/Ava won/ and the teams be average or bad. I watch a lot of big 8 football. Trust me those two are average at best.

1. Willow - new/old coach new attitude, etc etc 2. Thayer 3. Ava 4. Liberty 5. Grove (but above .500) 6. Cabool 7. Salem 8. Houston Ok seriously - Thayer/Ava winner for the crown. Thayer/Ava loser for 2. With Cabool being the darkhorse and many predicting good things I'll go on a limb and put them at 3. Grove/Liberty/Willow 4,5, & 6 in any order. Salem 7 .Houston 8. As stated before my predictions are about as accurate as Ky3 weather or predicting politics (blech). I do, however have a feeling/hunch - with the new attitude in Willow we'll knock off someone we shouldn't, but in return may be riding a high and forget to show up. This trend seems to happen to teams on the upswing and we shall see. Don't ask me who those teams are because I have no clue. I do see quite a few of us hiting .500 or better and that will also depend on our non-conference play.
