with what is going on in college football right now... its only natural to think about other kinds of expansion
Lets say the SCA wanted to get to 10 teams...
If YOU are the one in power...
What two schools do you invite to join?

Unfortunately the geography of the area really limits the SCA for expansion. Not a lot of football playing schools near the current SCA footprint. To me the logical choice is getting West Plains to return to the conference. After that it gets difficult. Marshfield and Rogersville are fairly close but would have little reason to leave their current conference. Forsyth would be a good choice but that would be a rough trip driving there from places like Salem and Thayer.

Oh good question! Forsyth and Hollister for me. I know geography will be an issue anywhere but if West Plains can do it every week then we can sacrifice a little.

WP is to big with near 900 students …Lo-Rog and Catholic might make sense but why would they leave their current situation?
The only way expansion happens is if Seymour,Mansfield or Hartville start up programs but doubt that ever happens.

Expansion won't happen. He's just asking a hypothetical question for those wondering. Having said that if it wasn't for crossing the border rules I'd look at the Salem Greyhounds

I got it was just a what if summer question. Even if the SCA wanted to expand I don’t see it happening unless schools add football…we can’t poach existing teams. I find the thought exercise intriguing and fun. I wasn’t trying to shut down the speculation, hope it didn’t come across that way.
Licking had football back in the day Grove. And they probably should now but some towns just don’t have the desire or culture to compete on the gridiron.

It would all be about timing. It would not have been too far fetched a few years ago when the Small COC was coming apart... individual schools were looking... The SCA was talked about by more than ONE...

Strafford and Fair Grove, perhaps even Pleasant Hope or Ash Grove.

Strafford and Fair Grove, perhaps even Pleasant Hope or Ash Grove. Another one that direction, no longer a pushover and would make the conf stronger, is Buffalo

I doubt Ash Grove/FG/PH would want to play the bigger schools in the SCA on a regular bases and that trip to Dent county and Thayer would be a haul. Strafford and Buffalo makes a bit of sense, Buffalo is getting better and Strafford will soon explode Class wise I bet. But really does the SCA want another member? I mean I know this is just yickety yack off season stuff but The SCA has 8 teams so everybody has 7 conference games....week ten has to stay open, so that gives everyone two non-conference games. I think those two games give the AD's a bit of wiggle room to work with each other for scheduling to a degree. Add another team and have only 1 non-conference game and the choices of teams on that one week could be slim and none for a lot of programs every couple of years when contracts change. Of course I guess the SCA could add two teams and everyone plays a full conference slate, but that would suck I like playing different squads and classes in the regular season.
