how did everyone look...
Reeds Spring hosted Branson, Aurora, and Lebanon.
The yellowjackets were probably the most solid. They are big (led by the Mizzou commit up front) they have speed and fun the flex very well.
Branson showed some flashes. They have some speed.. the running game is ahead of the passing game
Aurora has really improved over the last couple of years.. They numbers are up and this group will flat get after it...
Wolves, as expected, had some good things and bad things on the night. Overall some things to be excited about...
Next week we do it for real...

After losing a starting center this week and was told grove lost a running back to a knee (prayers sent) i was glad to see nobody go down. All 4 teams saw several dropped passes but its a jamboree it happens. Thought thayer looked the best but grove was solid. Willow looked like a team who hasn't seen an opponent at any camps and nerves out the wazoo but improved through the night. Houston als got off to a slow start against thayer. I think willow collected 6 turnovers (5 for sure) by both the varsity and jv. And most important besides no injury was the mushroom steak at the grove cafe was awesome. Mghs is also out of shape he had a hard time getting up to the press box 😁😂

I think some of us may have underestimated Grove. I thought they looked real solid tonight. Thayer looked like their usual self. They are physical and have some athletes.
Houston and Willow looked like bottom feeders in the SCA.

Thayer plays with urgency and aggression definitely was best team on the field. WS/Houston have some pieces to work with but have some improving to do.

How are all the old time Grove guys handling not being able to walk along the opposing teams sidelines?

I didn’t get to make it to the Ava jamboree but heard we struggled a bit early on with making mistakes. From what I heard it sounded like we were a bit jittery to start but then I heard we got better and looked really good against Catholic.

How are all the old time Grove guys handling not being able to walk along the opposing teams sidelines? Well they are not to keen on it but a lot of them are now in their 70/80’s and they have been sitting in lawn chairs on south hill any how so it wasn’t a huge fuss and now they have been allotted that chain linked area in front of old gate so I think it went ok. Of course they will moan cause that’s part of the fun. Now I suspect the wall will be the new hangout. For those younger people who are keen to gab and talk more than they watch and see the game. Better vantage point up there anyhow. I will say this one of the Coaches was uber impressed he said it looked Like a D2 college campus or better.

I'm not a big fan of the Jamboree's, but each year I still attend. With Lamar it hard to judge off of a Jamboree. Lamar again was in a Jamboree with Seneca, Joplin and Webb City. Lamar only went up against Joplin and Webb City since we play Seneca in conference. Webby City and Joplin do not go up against each other either since the are both in the COC.
Coach Beshore is following Coach Bailey pattern for the 18 snaps, 9-10 snaps for varsity, 5-6 for JV and Freshman get what's left. Webb City scored 2-3 times, but also had 2 fumbles and threw an interception against Lamar. Lamar on offense scored once against Webb City. Very impressed with Webb City defensive speed.
Against Joplin Lamar scored once and was able to move the ball against Joplin's defense. When on defense Lamar varsity kept Joplin from scoring and Austin Wilkerson had a nice interception of Joplin QB Always Wright. Yes that is the QB's name he's 6' 4" tall and can really throw the ball. He has a younger brother on team whose a WR named All Wright.
Again hard to tell from a Jamboree when Beshore is trying to get all of the kids into the Jamboree.

With all the camps and such...IMO the Jamboree's have outlived their usefulness. Back in the day when everyone didn't go to team camps it was nice to go up against someone besides your own to see how players would react and compete against other players and then coaches could make some adjustments. Now with Team camps and such really they serve almost no purpose at all. Coaches get a good look at how their players react to opposing teams of various talent level and adjustments and stuff can be made off those evaluations.
Now most coaches just want to get through Jam's without getting players injured and try to not show to much on Film and to Scouts going into the first game. I think one day soon that more and more coaches will just stop going and then it will be a domino effect. Once several coaches have the guts to not go and that community doesn't see it as a negative then Katy Bar the Door.

When I lived in Alabama in 2013 they had what was called preseason games, meaning you can play another school and it wasn't on your record. And I think they are like Arkansas (who is doing something similar now) where you are only allowed to play teams your school size (another subject, another time). So Foley, who would be a C5 here played Gulf Shores, who would be a C3 or a small C4 here as their preseason game. At one time it was a big rivalry so that's how they relived it, lol. No I don't want to play West Plains right now Yeah you still had a chance of injuries but you get to simulate the game where in jams you dont get to do special teams, clock management, etc etc.

Missouri needs to adapt what we do here in Louisiana. We play a game, but just for 2 periods, usually 12 minute quarters but some bigger schools with play 15 minute quarters. It allows officials to shake the rust off and coaches to work clock stuff, special teams, and other stuff you won't get out of just a scrimmage format or at camp.
