Yeah my point is not specific adjustments for the last game, but an overall philosophy. We have to be able to run the ball inside the tackles and be able to stop the run effectively. We have never been able to do those things for the long term. We do it in short bursts, but there is never really a commitment to it. We can throw the ball and run on the edge really well. But teams that have long term success have to play physical tackle to tackle. So therefore we pound the Willows of this world, but we struggle when we face the tough playoff tested teams-ava, thayer, lamar and Grove on friday night. They were more physical in the box. Weather is very unpredictable come playoff time and being able to pound the ball up the middle is a must come playoff time when the weather may effect the passing game or even the speed of getting around the outside. I remember the Ava/Clark County game. It rained several inches the night before and the morning of that game and the field was a mud bowl. Both teams struggled to stay on their feet and speed didn't matter anymore in those conditions. Pounding the ball up the middle was the only thing that seemed to be the less affected by the weather. It also seems like it's always cold and rainy when Liberty would play Lamar and that seems to hurt the Eagles more than it hurts the Tigers. When Liberty is healthy they have one of the best passing attacks year in and year out in class 2 but I have always wondered what the Eagles would look like come playoff time if they would commit to working on their inside run game.

Absolutely. Lamar (outside of this year) would crave playoffs games, not just for the main reasons everyone thinks of. But if teams who pass or spilt it 50/50 had to almost stop the pass? Lamar could just stack the box and play the run game. It’s looking like it’s Lamar/Ava collision course. Good luck to your bears. This will be a good game. I’m impressed with that freshman RB.

No offense to AVA, but all they have is a run game. their passing attack in as close to 0 as you can get. to beat them you just have to stack the box and hope your as physical up front as they are. they don't do anything special. and that style is how you get turbo clocked in the playoffs. MG threw the ball all over them and if we don't have 2 badly thrown INT's and a TD called down at the goal line on 4th down we make a game out of it.

The QB is spot on with his passing from the pocket and has a canon for an arm (he’s the best baseball pitcher in the SCA and one of the best in SWMO) the inaccurate passes come from throwing on the run with bootleg passes. Our defense does struggle to defend the pass (it’s been like that for years) but we have picked off several passes this year to the point I assume we lead the SCA in defensive interceptions. Lamar is good, very good but I don’t see it being a turbo clock game at all. Unlike Grove, Ava has some playoff experience.

I know FG won’t be for us.

And I wasn't talking about Lamar with the turbo clock. If you was to get past them is when you start to see teams that you cant just out muscle on the line

I think Gastel and Heckadon can take the top off which will stop you guys from stopping the run. Our lines are not as big as usual but they are strong and physical. Ava isn’t going anywhere and I love when we get to face a team from the SCA. I’m just glad it’s not LMV. Never very fun to travel to a place that scowls at you when you give their local business money.

He looked pretty inaccurate versus Salem really inaccurate..And MV a pick 6. I'd say Ava is pretty one dimensional and if forced to pass to keep credible teams Honest it could be a long night. But with that said who is Ava going to face but Thayer and Lamar from here on out?

Ava would beat FG pretty easily, but FG is as physical as I've ever seen them upfront. Ava wins that match up though because Ava has a equal or better Line, and more Skills to boot. Lamar will roll FG by 3tds if not more. FG has their Line and their QB. RB's are real average and their WR are not that good either.

I got in trouble for being too confident in my team (granted nobody knew I had kids playing and watched all practices) I truly don’t think outside of Hallsville and or LSC there’s a challenge for Lamar. But both teams have decent flaws. I made Ava sound comparable because I appreciate the program and their coach. He’s brilliant. FG will be slaughtered. I think Lamar will do like 16 or 17 and it will be a 60+ spot. The other option if is we allow our Freshman and JV play a half and FG scores a few on them.

From what little of FG I have seen I totally agree. It will not be close, likely over by half
