Ary would obviously be an amazing hire, but he would be foolish to mess up his retirement in Arkansas.

I'm not to interested in the other sports and coaches....And yes Meeks and Webber are HOF coaches. With Webber having the most success without a doubt. I'd say that landing a 3rd HOF coach percentage wise is minimal at best. Maybe the stars will Align and it happens. But doing what Webber did doesn't happen everyday and doesn't come easy. You sort of seem like it's a forgone conclusion that replacing Webber will be easy. Don’t really care what you’re interested in.. LOL not sure what’s so hard to understand about Thayer having success hiring coaches that might make one think that they will do the same again this time? What’s wrong with being positive and not folding the tent just because he’s leaving? Yes the people who know anything about football, knows that Webber was a top tier coach. Nobody is arguing that. You were acting like it was the end of times saying how it got a lot, a lot easier to win over Thayer. Maybe so for a couple of years, but I believe they will make the right hire and the bobcats will return to a class 1 power. I will say this Pitts is good...but does he even teach at Thayer or is he coach for hire? And your Baseball program usually isn't top notch at all so you can't say all your Coaches are top flight. Really Webber is what holds that school together in a lot of ways, and to Just dismiss losing him and acting like he is easily replaceable is disrespectful IMO. I get being upbeat but being realistic is only logical. Thayer literally has hired two coaches on the Gridiron in the last 40 years.....so the odds would dictate unless you have the Man on staff that it's a 50/50 chance on how it could go. Thayer could just as easily hire a coach who doesn't fit or mesh with the Community or isn't that good to begin with.

And I'd be surprised if he would take over the Thayer job this late in his career even after being invested, not impossible but a bit implausible.

Cecil Meyer, Cliff Hawkins, Steve Atkisson, David Meek, Billy Webber, and Matt Pitts have been hired in the last 40 years and I believe that everyone I mentioned is in the HOF or should be soon. Pitts is not a coach for hire and when he was the HC for baseball Thayer was a solid program. Never disrespected Webber one time, just not going to act like it’s the end of the world cause I have confidence the administration will make a good hire. Have heard a couple names as possibilities for replacement and both those guys are close to the program.

No matter who coaches down there this coming year, I believe graduation is going to hit you guys pretty hard as it is? How much will that play a factor on the upcoming season? Correct me if wrong

Correct me if wrong I won’t be judging the new coach based off next season. IMO in high school they need 3-5 years to determine if it’s the right fit or not. They did lose a lot to graduation and losing Webber will be a tall task to obtain the 8th straight DC. Talent is there but might have to wait a couple of years to see it.

I believe Thayer will be fine such good community that's supports an is dedicated to its program just like in ava an that's a huge part of success in my opinion. I hope to hear from my BFF baldknob on this too wer prob in agreement. liberty as well have been a fantastic community for most part since they've been on winning side.

The only way you can sustain the success those schools have had is with the community support. You have to start them early and have parents willing to take them to games and practices. Thayer does a great job in the elementary basketball and football programs.

Meeks and Webber what other great coaches do you see having coached Thayer Before Meeks and Webber there is only one that I can remember. Think his name was Lee,back in '81 if I remember correctly. Year Thayer won the SCA. Other than those 3,not so much.

I talked David Meek into staying with me as a mentor for 1 year while he happened to be sitting with a bunch of board members and boosters at a big table when I walked into Fred's. Gonna be difficult to change colors and im sorry the bears found out this way ...
