Not trying to spread gossip, trying to verify a rumor. Mosports has posted the Thayer football job is open. Can anybody verify this as either fact or fiction?

I heard rumors during season that Coach Weber was retiring after this season. Would be a good class to go out with.

I thought next year was his last year, but I have been wrong before. Just really hate to see him go. But, wish him the best in retirement.

Webber has done an amazing job with the football program. Did things the right way and had a ton of success. People thought after the back to back State Championship games and having to join the SCA that Thayer would go back to being mediocre in football but that wasn’t the case. He turned them into a Class 1 power that teams in our area wanted no part of in their district. Thayer was lucky to have Webber. I’m not confirming that he is moving on, I’ve just heard rumblings like you all.
If it is true, wishful thinking has me wanting Ary to come home.. I’m sure he’s staying in Arkansas but that would be a big time hire. lol

Webber is Thayer football..I’d heard that he was not as appreciated by some as he should be and he was ready to retire. Thayer should get on their knees and beg him to stay. Replacing him could be near impossible.

He's a classic and has definitely done a lot for the Bobcats. Gonna be some big shoes to fill no matter who comes to town

I'd say getting a win versus the BobCats got a lot, lot easier.....I could see Thayer becoming a Bball school first and foremost in the coming years.

Thayer has a pretty good track record of hiring great coaches. Don’t see that changing any time soon. Might be easier to win for a couple of years due to talent drops off some but I don’t see the bobcats going away for very long. |

I wasn’t just talking about the track record of hiring football coaches, I meant in all sports. Although the two you mentioned (Thayers last two football coaches) are in the HOF. |

I'm not to interested in the other sports and coaches....And yes Meeks and Webber are HOF coaches. With Webber having the most success without a doubt. I'd say that landing a 3rd HOF coach percentage wise is minimal at best. Maybe the stars will Align and it happens. But doing what Webber did doesn't happen everyday and doesn't come easy. You sort of seem like it's a forgone conclusion that replacing Webber will be easy.

LOL not sure what’s so hard to understand about Thayer having success hiring coaches that might make one think that they will do the same again this time? What’s wrong with being positive and not folding the tent just because he’s leaving? Yes the people who know anything about football, knows that Webber was a top tier coach. Nobody is arguing that. You were acting like it was the end of times saying how it got a lot, a lot easier to win over Thayer. Maybe so for a couple of years, but I believe they will make the right hire and the bobcats will return to a class 1 power. |
