Assistant Bobcat Coach Briar Hancock has accepted the HC position. Good news, read that alittle while ago. Should be a smooth transition. Best of luck Coach.

Love when a school hires from within... as long as they have someone qualified on staff, give them a chance.

Will Hancock be a Meek, Webber or a Leaks or Bunch? Be interesting time for the Bobcats Very interesting indeed… Hopefully they can avoid the having to hire a new coach every couple of years like Grove has had to do. What’s it been, 5 different head coaches in the past 10 years?

4 coaches in last 10– Rodgers 18,19,20,21…Atkins 17,16,15 …Stuckey 14 and Johnson 13 to Ary.
Stucky was the outlier 1 year guy who had to go. Atkins was good but he wanted to move to administration and no opportunity, now AD at Seneca.Johnson was the sad one good coach with some issues.

The new guy at Thayer has been an assistant for 1 year and is like 22 years old? Following a legend like Webber.
Hope it works out, but that has the makings of problems written all over it.

He will have a steep learning curve. I’m sure Webber wouldn’t of hired him if he didn’t have the potential. The issue is will the Thayer community give him time to find his gridiron legs.
I’d still say that come this Fall though Thayer will be considered in the top 1 to 4 conference wise, if he doesn't live up to that level of excellence it will be a step back for the program.

Definitely a few question marks surrounding this hire.. His age and experience stands out the most.. Believe he is from Illinois and makes you wonder how committed he is to sticking around here. But like MGHS, I’m sure Webber would not have gave his approval of the hire if he didn’t feel like Hancock wasn’t ready. . Have heard nothing but good things about him and the kids seems to like the hire so it’s a step in the right direction for now.
