That it would.....if Wyatt does leave just pure speculation of course. Who would Willow have on the short list of coaches?

So Willow was going to lose their coach, but didnt. Now an even more logical place for him to go is suddenly open? Do they have someone on staff that would be considered to move up? What say you Bears, fans?

Perkins a Willow alum, goes to Columbia, went to West Plains from Willow Pitts a Willow alum goes to Aurora/Columbia/not West Plains, went to West Plains from Willow Wyatt a Willow alum gets rumored every day he's going/gone/nvm he's staying put....now West Plains is involved in that (possibly) Steve Ary, Alan Joyner, and a small list of players have all left Bear Land over the years and become Zizzers. But West Plains will brag how good they are and can whoop anyone in the SCA (I've heard this many times in that town) when they don't realize none of their coaches and a few good players have never came from WP. Can they not find greatness in their own native land??? Will they not leave Willow (Cabool and Grove too) alone and hire from some dang place else??? Could they even compete if the rural feeder schools left them (that rumor still going that they might)?
This whole thing is making a lot of us pull our hair out. Don't know what to believe, what direction to turn, etc etc. The only advantage, if there is one, is this crap aint happening in June like it usually does to us ....

A part of me wishes this stuff would happen somewhere else. Another part of me wouldn't wish this crap on anyone.

Dew I hate to be the bearer of bad news but really I don't think WP is the Issue. It appears that a lot of coaches see WS as a stepping stone. WS proximity to WS clearly contributes to the easy move to a more lucrative school district with better amenities. It's just the nature of the beast better pay and better retirement.
At Grove we have had turnover as well...some do to bad hires, others do to Good coaches with issues, and Like Ary and Atkins coaches looking for better pay and advancement. It's how it works. It's just hits home more when it's your team.

My point was, and yes was firing a shot at WP, is a lot of folks in that town laid claim to this great run they had yet not a single coach that made them what they are had any ties to that town. It takes the sca schools to provide them with talented coaching

What’s the deal at Willow? Why do these coaches not want to be there?

What’s the deal at Willow? Why do these coaches not want to be there? Basketball school...simple as that. Most of the athletes are satisfied with hoops and not putting in the grind for football. Doubt that changes.

It takes the sca schools to provide them with talented coaching lets not forget the assistants WP has been grabbing also. Cabool and Grove both with young up and comers down there with Ary. and last I heard 1 still there. biggest issue for a lot of schools is that other schools can pay more. which is kind of a crock considering its all State funding. I understand the cost of living and blah blah. but is WP and WS that far apart that a coach should get that a substantial raise? and when does the double dip start where we start getting AR Hall of fame coaches crossing over LOL

Doubt that changes. and its proven when your best athletes aren't playing football, even with a splashy hire of Wyatt coming home. Kind of crappy to say, but blame the kids and parents who think specializing in 1 sport makes them better. Sure there is a few exceptions. but not in the grander scheme

Not sure this is fair, considering JW got hired in the middle of June. Kids want to play for a winner. When I was in high school Willow was a football school who won multiple conference championships and dominated the SCA. It can get there again, but judging a guy who has 6 weeks to get ready to play against teams who've been developing kids for years isn't fair.

But on the other side of that, the coach who came home to a heros welcome was ready to bail and leave town in just a few months? That does not set a very good example for the kids who he is now trying to get to come out and work hard.

That was a Ary anomaly....historically WS is a Basketball school. Sure on occasion if all the athletes stay out WS is competitive in football but that is not the Norm, if you say SCA football WS usually doesn't come to mind as a upper echelon team..... Wyatt isn't the issue at all, he can coach and coach well. But if the players are not going to take to disciplined, proven coaching and elect to dribble and shoot instead because the commitment is easier, well the writing is on the wall. I'm not saying WS can't get back to being good but let's be real the issue hasn't been coaches....
