I know that the Nevada vs Lamar game is not on your list but, this could be one of those games that the last team with the ball wins the game. Both teams have a 5-1 record. This game is a rivalry game and is played for the Silver Tiger award which Lamar has held for several years. Nevada has one of the best backfields in the area with speed to burn. Their defense has been questionable at times. Lamar lost their starting quarterback, Beshore, to a knee injury against Mac County. He is also a very good dback. He was walking around on it during the 2nd half of last week's game. So, I don't know what his status for this game is. But, Lamar's defense is capable of slowing down Nevadas attack. I'm going to predict a 43-26 Lamar victory. Wrong. He was evaluated and treated. He’s not even going to miss this week as long as practice continues to trend towards playing. His sister in law checked him over as well. It wasn’t nearly as bad as it looked when he didn’t get up after the play like he always does. What was wrong about what I said? Not a thing. Everything I said was spot on. Did Beshore play? No he didn't. Did Lamar slow down Nevada's offense? The game wasn't as close as what the score indicates. What was the final score? 47-26. I predicted 43-26. So, it seems that you were the one that was WRONG!!

didn't go to game but listened what a game. good job on both sides! sounded like they had issues w refs though? dewy what happened w having to get rule book out? So Houston had the ball 4th down deep in Willow territory. 1 or 2 yard line is the first down marker. Willow stopped the Houston player at the 5 and the ball was also fumbled and went out of bounds at the 1. The refs gave Houston the ball at the 1. They score right after to go up 14-6 with 3? minutes left. Before they went ahead and gave them the ball the Coaches went to the head ref, and he stopped play to let them bring him the rule book. In every level of football I know, you can NOT advance a fumble on 4th down in the 4th quarter UNLESS you recover your own fumble. Not only was it not recovered by the player the ball rolls out of bounds. It was a flag fest both ways all night long. I haven't said a word about officials this year, and vowed not to because of shortages of officials and such. I made it all the way to week 7. They wouldn't let either team's defense line up at the line of scrimmage pretty much and several offsides were called. And I have no clue what happened for all the false starts either. Willow left everything out on the field and fought hard on every play, and almost pulled this one out. They didn't lay down and 2 plays after Houston goes up 14-6 it's 14-14. Houston didn't score until 13 seconds left and we didn't have enough time to respond

So the ball carrier fumbles at the 5 yd line and the ball goes forward and out bounds at the 1? The team is given the ball at the 1? Do we have any officials that frequent this site? Would be interested in knowing how the rules work on that? They let you guys look in the rule book but that did not work?

OUT-OF-BOUNDS AND INBOUNDS SPOTS
<^>Bookmark this article
ART. 1... When a loose ball goes out of bounds, the out-of-bounds spot is fixed by the yard line where the foremost point of the ball crossed the sideline. When the ball becomes dead in the field of play because of touching a person who is out of bounds, the out-of-bounds spot is fixed by the yard line through the foremost point of the ball.

ART. 2... When the out-of-bounds spot is between the goal lines, the ball shall be put in play at the nearest inbounds spot unless a forward pass is involved. If the out-of-bounds spot is behind a goal line, it is a safety, field goal or touchback. If the ball touches a pylon, it is out of bounds behind the goal line. 2022 NFHS Football Rules Book - NFHS © 2022

I've seen post where there was some confusion about a safety being scored on a penalty in the end zone. Here is a play from the case book ignore the fact that its a punt and focus on what happens when the team in possession of the ball commits a foul in thier own endzone
10.4.4 SITUATION E
R1 catches a punt on his 4-yard line and his momentum carries him behind his goal line where he is downed in the end zone. After the kick has ended, but before the ball becomes dead: (a) K1 holds in R’s end zone; or (b) K1 holds at R’s 5-yard line; or (c) R2 holds in the end zone.
If R accepts the penalty in either (a) or (b), it will be R’s ball first and 10 from its 14-yard line. R will put the ball in play by a snap. If R declines the penalty in either (a) or (b), the ball will be put in play by R at the 4-yard line since the kick was caught there. In (c), it is a safety since the foul occurred in the end zone. 2022 NFHS Football Case Book - NFHS © 2022

Attackdog also made this post on the fb page and I thanked him for his time researching (he spent about an hour). There was a LOT of people who didn't know this. We did discuss that Mshsaa or Nfhsaa (or however the national high school is called) need to research this rule and give it some thought. For the record this play didn't cost us the game or anything, we responded in 2-3 plays and tied it up. But my concern is as we all learned this kids are going to be fumbling forward on 4th down and trying to make it look good. Attackdog did tell us that if that is suspected said players can be flagged for an illegal forward pass. So this may be a monitored situation for awhile. So I (and a whole lot of folks) stand corrected on this call.

Had 166 yards rushing 2TD and passing was 7/10 for 158 yards 1TD.

It’s not to be spread all over the internet. Second you stated it like he’s missing multiple weeks. The Tigers have no hard games left. Why would they risk losing him longer by playing him? He’s going to play some to none into districts. Now quit talking about kids health on the internet. This is different than a prayer request. It’s helpful to opponents to know the health of an opposing team. I knew Lamar would beat the breaks off of them. I love a block away from the field and I have relatives playing.

Wilkerson has quite the arm for a Sophomore. I’m hopeful he won’t skip a beat becoming the starter next year. While things are wrapped up for Lamar heading into districts? I bet he plays some to allow Beshore even more time to rest.
