Lots of youth on the WS team. Got to hope all the hard licks pay off for them in the next couple years. Sadly I can see yet another Coaching change coming for them.

I think Coach Payne is doing a great job with the cards he's been dealt and the community feels the same way. Willow has a much stronger middle school program working its way up. They are also competitive in JV. I think Coach Payne is invested and the school has done a good job of providing more facilities and hiring more asst. coaches. I think this year is the bottom of the hill. They'll be better next year and in 2 years they'll be back to being much more competitive.

Coach Payne is doing a Herculean of a job with the cards he has been dealt you are lucky to have him. And maybe WS has a strong MS program compared to WS previous programs but they are not a group that has the WOW factor to create a quick turnaround. And competitive in JV is a bit of a overstatement IMO.
Looking at their JV and what they have coming up in MS.... I'd say that as far a competing in the SCA I don't think the dial will move much in the Next 4 years.
The team to look at for a quicker Turn around is the Blue Tigers from Salem. Cabool looks like they are thinning in talent after this year. Houston Looks to be Pretty Solid, Ava, Thayer, MV, Grove the same.
So while WS might be a bit better the results in Win's and Losses could very well be the same. Which makes it even harder on coach Payne.

Looked like the Varsity honestly. I hope they do get better it only helps the conference if they do.

I maybe wrong on this, but didnt you say on this forum in the past that you dont live in the area any longer? If so, how would you know how the community feels? I watched the middle school team play Liberty and was not impressed. I hear they have won a couple games. But that really does not mean that are working their way up. This thing is in full rebuild mode and it is going to be a long process if it can ever get turned around.

This thing is in full rebuild mode and it is going to be a long process if it can ever get turned around. What does where I live have to do with anything? Have several friends in town and I keep up with my Alma Mater. That literally might be the dumbest comment I've read on this forum. Kudos to you. Middle school program is improved from where it was. I'm not saying Willow is going to be back to contending for conference titles, but there's no reason they can't be in the middle of the pack if they get things better aligned. They just opened a new training facility and the numbers are gonna get better. I was back there for homecoming and Dew can correct me but I heard there were less than 15 juniors and seniors boy or girl in the entire school doing extra curricular activities. That is a major culture problem that I think will get better in the next couple years. 20-25 years ago, Liberty was the worst program in the conference and it wasn't close. Houston wasn't great, then they made back to back trips to the semis. Cabool had big wins, Ary got Grove rolling again and they have recently been back to being pretty average. High school sports is cyclical at best, it's just unfortunate that Willow's time at the bottom the hill has been longer than most.

There is no way you have any type of feel for how the community feels when you do not live or interact with the community on a somewhat regular basis. You can think that is dumb but it is reality. The community is a huge part of the problem. The middle school program has won a couple games. Training facilities are nice but that is not an answer either. People from Willow have been in denial about this stuff for years and until the real issues are dealt with things will never change.
