The basketball run started back in the mid 90s. I can only think of 3 teams since then that was just average. Coach Hawkins got the ball rolling and Coach Pitts has taking it to another level. Has there been kids move in that has helped the program stay at or near the top, no doubt but like I said it goes both ways. Having football helps bring in some kids that doesn’t have that opportunity at surrounding schools. IMO when you have won as much as they have, you don’t have to recruit, they just come.
