Has the idea of co-op ever come up in the SCA. Liberty/Willow Cabool/Grove Houston/Licking. Just a thought. It is happening all over the state: Clayton/Brentwood Soldan/Sumner etc. I know this would kill some great community rivals, but we are in a new era of high school athletics. Not saying it is good but a reality.

it is actually a good idea that some should consider. But in reality I think the powers that be across our conference are too stupid and stubborn to ever go that direction.

if it was a forced type thing. maybe with co-op with schools that didn't offer everything. like MG and Mansfield, Hartville or Norwood. for Wright County MG is the only school with football. Houston/Licking would be good. i see no reason to volunteer to do anything crazy since all the are schools have their own facilities.

Well schools like Cabool and Willow very easily could be on life support soon. This would at least give them some breathing room.

I know your not in favor of Forcing schools to Co-op because forcing stuff upon people and communities is a bad thing.....But if the state did that authoritative thing then you might as well force the consolidation of school districts to save Money across the board and stop duplicating Jobs in administration, services of Building upkeep etc. . I know local communities take pride in their schools as a lot of them that is all they have to bind them together... The real small ones Like Dora/Norwood/Lutie(which split off from Gainsville) etc. are basically the hub of those communities. I doubt they want to risk Co-oping their players. What if Say Norwood has a Dang good Bball player who wants to play WR or QB and MG Co-ops football with them, he loves the Game on the Gridiron and the Next thing you know he has moved into the Grove District to play the Both Sports! And as was mentioned combining enrollments could jump a Squad up a Class and if you don't gain some Stud Athletes to off set that jump you are now at a disadvantage talent wise competing in a class up, losing more games and then churning Coaches as they get fired. A lot of moving parts in Co-oping of schools.

it is likely to be smaller schools, but consolidation will be discussed more this legislative session...

Hasn't it been discussed for decades off and on? I mean some of the Small schools have just resisted it and the communities have voted to increase their property tax levy above the minimum and such to remain open? There are a lot of rural voters and I can see a lot of Schools fighting this... I mean Both Schools might hate the idea of combining and fight it tooth and nail.

which would make more sense. Cabool and MG combining, or MG and Norwood? Willow Springs and Mt. View? MT. View and Winona? West plains could form a super cell with Dora, willow.

Those closer to the school can verify but I've heard it took MANY years for Birch Tree and Mtn. View to get along when they combined to become liberty. Some kids lost spots on teams to other kids, etc. We already fight with West Plains over the Richards/Jct Hill kids. We are taking quite a few in and when we did beat them at something that was the first thing we heard. Yet out of 30 plus Richards kids only 4 or 5 play any kind of sport. I realize thats feeder school vs co-op but we still deal with a new kid coming in and a long time kid losing a spot. I like the competition of it and bringing a better culture but some don't

Grove would accept the Cabool kids…. Cabool people might not want any part of Grove for Reasons?? Would Norwood provide any Football players?? Doubt it Willow being Bball first would resist MV. Dora people would probably scatter to Gainesville WP Grove
