Lets say the conference was going to grow by TWO teams.... and, the invites were totally up to YOU.
What two schools get invited?
No bad answers..... GO!

For the sca geographically theres not a good fit that has football. The best fit woulda been wp and richards splitting last year

i agree, we have no football schools in our vicinity. closest would be west plains and Rogersville. and while they would make good football rivals for Grove and View. they would kill us as a whole in most other sports due to their size

Forsyth even tho they are going to be new and Strafford. That will keep the conf at a C2-C3 level and you still dont go across Springfield. Good subject MoSooner, how would you do the COC?

If I wanted to keep the COC together.. I would show Bolivar the door... get Hollister and Buffalo back in the fold... then pull in Strafford, Fair Grove, and Forsyth.

That wouldnt be a bad way to go either. I know this is a hypothetical question and just for fun and interest. Of course if I was in charge I would force Alton to get football and Licking to get it again. That would solve our geographical issue

I know they are C4, but our teams could play with them. Ava has beat them for years, and Willow used to do it too. But, I think I would bring in Marshfield, and also Fair Grove so I could see my SCA teams kick the living crap out of them! Oh yeah...

Strafford, or Fair Grove are the obvious choices, they would be close enough and the right size. There really are no good options geographically for this unless someone adds a football program, or a larger school breaks into smaller pieces, like West Plains. If two or more smaller districts combined, I could see a new football program happening too. There are towns like Licking that are large enough for football that would be a natural fit if they wanted to join. There was some talk of Doniphan bringing back football as well.
Another possible scenario could be the merging of two conferences with a large and small school division like the COC has now. The COC small, or Mid-Lakes could be in this possible mix. It might help with scheduling all sports.
It's a tough proposition for the SCA since there are no football schools east (till you get to the bootheel) and another state to the south.

And for kicks n grins, what about an SCA/Big Springs (or other name) 8 man division? Bakersfield, Koshkonong, Dora, Eminence, Winona, etc etc
I probly just took this whole thing off subject. Sorry MoSooner if I ruined your thread.

I was just looking at Doniphan on the map. It appears that the closest towns that have football are Thayer (and is still an hour away), and Poplar Bluff. Other than that, they are going to have to travel really far to get anywhere else. I am surprised that they decided to add football with that being said. But, I guess it's like Greenfield traveling as far as they do, just to play 8-Man football. I do have a question though. Has Piedmont (Clearwater) ever played football before? They are also in that area and don't they usually have good sports teams? What size are they?

Clearwater is class 3 for basketball. I'm guessing they would be a class 2 football school if they had it. I would guess that several schools would have to add football around the same time in that area for it to work bc of all the travel that would need to take place

They apparently used to play football. They still have a field. Don't you know that would have sucked for kids that wanted to play all of these years and there was a vacant field right there.

That is really sad. I would have hated to have to look at it!
I've always heard rumors about Mansfield having a field somewhere, but have never seen it. Is there any truth to that? Anyone know?
