Good news for willow is they have some time this time around. They can see what interest is out there and not have to jump on something quickly. Yes, and the quicker we advertise the better MGHS you keep hammering that we are a "basketball school". This year's SCA tri-championship with very quality coaching that I hope never ever leaves is the first one since 2010-11. 10-11 years.... - 20 SCA basketball titles since 1915, 13 football titles since 1925 which averages 1 every 6 yrs basketball and 1 every 7 yrs football. You might call this a twist but you Grovers are the big history buffs, looks like it's kinda even to me. 10 yrs since Basketball title, 18 since football. All our titles came in bunches then spread out so you can go through that history and look at it any way you like in favor of which sport you want to show support of

Ozark Radio News released the official hiring, and as we all know it wasn't rumored but it's all said and done now. My phone has blown up with MANY messages from folks who said they didn't know. They do now....

I can list them for you if need me to. WS was a factor early in the SCA in football and during the Ary years huge droughts for the rest of the time. And really you proved my point 7 more basketball titles than football. I'm can't believe you are not seeing that Basketball is a higher priority than Football at WS. Although in reality those numbers might show that WS isn't that vested in sports as a whole.

Last I heard he's going to be here a couple more years and I sure hope so. Having said that, Forrest and James can both step in and do good. With the whole conf it seems graduating their core or rosters who knows what it will be like no matter who is coaching, lol.

Wyatt will do a great job at WP. I’m disappointed for Willow but I also believe almost anyone would have made the same decision, but even if the situation at WS had been a little better.
Regarding where WS goes from here, when Ary was made head coach back in the early 90’s a lot of people forget he was a JH coach who was a few years removed from basically getting non renewed at Liberty.
How many losing seasons and bad years did coach Acklin have at Liberty before he got it going? I believe his first year as head coach was 2002? And that was after years of them being the bottom of the league. Good thing is it’s early enough to go through a proper search and hopefully find a worthy candidate.

Been an interesting few days around WP. Not as much excitement as I guessed, but Perkins was very well liked around here. A lot of parents have heard horror stories from parents in WS about how last year went for their kids. We will see if his style translates to a school that is already used to winning. If not it could be another rough year for him. Personally I think he will adjust because that's what good coaches do.

Perkins and Wyatt could not be more opposite of each other. This is the first place Wyatt has come into where they have had success and he just needs to build off of that. The other places he has been head coach they had been bad, and he had to start from the ground up. This is not that place. Adjusting on the field is a major strength of Wyatt. Adjusting to parents/kids/an established culture? That will be what makes or breaks him.

Good thing is it’s early enough to go through a proper search and hopefully find a worthy candidate. And that's why I'm not hitting the panic button along with the fact when you've been at the bottom the only thing worse is watching football disappear I believe we got a couple quality guys in the school (Carter/Johnson, and Pitts with a bit more experience comes but if we got to I'll back him up). Having said that if we can attract a fresh face to the area with some different ideals I'd rather go that direction. Nothing wrong with either way we go, just have my preference. Also don't forget (on mo teaching jobs site) Willow, Thayer, and WP were also looking for assistants, so there's still issues to be addressed out there for more than us.

Were they complaining that he coaches too hard?

I’m curious what the horror stories are? Were they complaining that he coaches too hard? YES!! how dare he coach an not coddle them Sounded like it was more degrading than hard coaching but I don't know anything specific. N heard talks of football first kids not wanting to play next year because of it. But again, this is all 2nd and 3rd hand info. WP kids can be coached hard. Ary did it and Watching Pitts and Dixon the last couple years has been fun and the kids were able to take it. But I know of a mama or two that might make a fuss if it goes past that. Personally I'm rootin for him because I want the Zizzers to keep on winning and he has proven he can do that.
