Has North Callaway played Ava? Has Lamar played Ava? Has Lutheran North played Ava? Has Caruthersville played Ava? Has Lafayette County played Ava? Look I'm as big a Lamar supporter as there is. Congratulations to Ava for getting to this point. I have no doubt that Ava is going to bring it, SCA teams tend to do that. It's a bit rude to post who you consider is better than who, unless they have played and the game has determined it. Now, I also understand that there is some light hearted (most of the time) trash talk going on, here. I would just urge those who post to show respect to our opponents, coaches and fans. That's how we wanna be treated and how we expect those representing our town and our team to behave.

Nice. Just trying to show some respect for the Ava folks, that's all. There seems to be some animosity down there between Ava and MV/Liberty and Grove.

Laf County and North Callaway are better than Ava. I'd be interested to know how you've come to this conclusion. But there is no way North Callaway, a team that lost to Southern Boone, is better than Ava. It seems like every yr one of the Callaway schools ends up in the semis with like a .900 win percentage, and the truth is playing teams like Mark Twain and Clopton/Ellsbury will do that for ya. Half of the SCA could've nearly won the Eastern Missouri conference (Ava, Grove, Liberty, Salem, Thayer). Just look at NC's schedule and tell me how many of those teams would beat Thayer or Grove. If you've seen as much small podunk football as me and my poor ol lady (God bless her) you wouldn't think any of them would. Lafayette is a push, but they're the probably the 4th best team left so that one makes sense. At least those KCI/Midland Empire teams they play are usually similar in talent and coaching to the typical top tier of the SCA. Regardless, from what I've heard the scuttlebutt outta Lamar is that Bailey says this is the best defense he has had in a while or maybe ever. So regardless of what goober comes outta the otherside of this bracket they're gonna get stomped on by Lamar, or anyone else who is lucky enough to beat em and it won't be close. The state title game is gonna be like a 30 pt. kinda whipping and as is usually the case (except for last yr) the state title isn't gonna be decided in the finals.

It was just honesty. Bailey is very respectful and says something nice about every opponent.

Not sure I really care about who's better than who but one thing I'm sure of is the tigers will punish the bears soon. I think where the animosity comes from against the bears is with all that the bears have accomplished this year they've failed to do it with class and dignity. I'm talking about the players and forget the some of the fans they can b jackasses. It's a character issue. That's why people have been rubbed the wrong way.
The bears 50 pound heads are fixin to get deflated.
Go bears😁😂

I haven't heard Bailey say that, but I rarely make it back to the truck in time to hear the postgame. Lamar has always defended the run well, ESPECIALLY when just one back is highlighted (see Caruthersville 2012), but pass D is always the weakest link. Luckily, historically it has never been too much to overcome. The secondary has made great strides this year. I'm not sure which team I would give my vote to for best defense, maybe 2013 because you had a Bailey twin at each DE, and then prowling in the secondary was Compton (current leading tackler for Mo S&T, I believe) and Beshore (current defensive captain for Mo State, I believe).

I agree with your last paragraph completely, all of this talk matters not about who wins the state title. Normally, I would agree with you about N Callaway. But Southern Boone is not the slouch that they usually are. That coupled with a down year in the SCA makes for a much closer comparison.

I guess it don't really matter now, the bears are the best district 3 has to offer. Hopefully the bears can make a game of it.
