Congratulations to the Ava Bears on winning their district championship. After all those years of facing Liberty in the quarterfinals, it seems a little strange facing someone else. Most Lamar fans have never been to Ava. Is their plenty of bleacher space or should we bring our lawn chairs? Is their standing room around the edge of the field and endzones? Is there plenty of parking close to the stadium? What are some of the best places to eat near Ava? Sorry for all of the questions. I've had several Lamar fans asking these questions and I thought you guys would know better than anyone. Good luck to the Bears and I hope both teams come away without suffering any injuries.
As for the game, what are your predictions? As most of you know, Lamar is a run first type team. And second and third. The forward pass is a last resort for the Tigers. What does the Bears want to do? Are they a spread type offense or are they more of a ground attack team? Who are some of the players to watch?

For those needing directions - Take Hwy 60 to the Ava Exit on Hwy 5 (in Mansfield). When you get to Ava stay on Hwy 5 until you get through town and you will see Y hwy on your right. Take that and top the hill past the big church and you will see a street on your left (dont know the name), turn there and you will see the ballparks. All their bleachers are on one side and it will depend on how many folks you take to the game about parking and whatnot. They have parking around their baseball/softball fields as well so there should be plenty of room. The field is a north/south field so you will face the sun in the late afternoon if it is out.

Ava is almost a mirror image of lamar..tun run and run some more..very physical team with good line play..any 1 of 4 backs can break the big play..defensive side they play an attacking defense that is very fundamentally sound...being from SCA I'm biased..go bears..cant Wait to see this game
Ava has nice facility..quite a bit of parking..1 big set of bleachers facing towards the west..

If you’re looking for some good restaurants make sure to stop by either Ruby Garden or Guacomolees. They are next to each other and you can find directions online. Ruby Garden is a very good all you can eat Chinese buffet. I know I see many fans from other towns eating there before heading over to the game. Guacomolees is a pretty good Mexican food restaurant. As for the stadium, there is a good amount of parking close by, the sports complex is on the outskirts of the town. There’s only 1 large side of seating, but there is quite a bit of standing room on each side of the stands. I would definitely recommend getting there an hour early. The place was absolutely packed against MTN Grove although there was plenty of standing room on the south side of the bleachers. We typically are a hard nosed running team who loves the option. I feel like the teams are similar in that regard although I feel like your players are much bigger than ours. I’m just hoping for a good game. I don’t think we’ll win, I just hope we make a game out of it but I guess that’s why you play the games. Hopefully both teams can avoid any injuries during this one. Go Bears!

In suspect the bears could keep this game close at least in the first half but the pounding that there going to receive will be just to much. I believe the bears are one of weakest teams to come out of district 3 to play the tigers in recent years IMO. There seems to be some talk about the character of bears players and fans. This game will definitely let us all know about the character of the bears and there program. Congrats to the bears for great season but don't get used to it, I suspect things to get back to normal next year.

You MV/Liberty Fans can attest to how Lamar travels. We'll bring the hordes. You might want to drag some stands in from the baseball fields, or something. You will have an opportunity to make some money on concessions, so, stock up..

Lamar 56 Ava 0 It was a great year Ava, but the ride ends in a very bumpy way this weekend.

There is a large set of bleachers but from seeing how Lamar has traveled to Liberty in years past they could fill up all the seats in the place on their own. The place was packed friday and I expect even more this week. There will not be near enough seating for the game saturday. Parking is not terrible but will get rough unless you get there by 11:45-12. Bring your lawn chairs, they will be needed for sure. This game could stay close early but that is even doubtful. It will be 35+ before the 4th even starts no doubt.

So, what is it about this years team thatt helped propel Ava to an undefeated regular season? weak year in conference, talent level is no doubt down compared to other years overall and injuries killed Groves chances of much of a run but their line play wouldn't of taken them very far anyway. Good bunch of hard working kids don't get me wrong in every school, just one of those years where nobody stood out and Ava had the best group. There weight room work showed up in 4th quarter .

I don’t think Ava has much of a chance to win. If I was betting man, I wouldn’t think Ava scores. My prediction is Lamar 60-0. Ava had a great year though. The SCA always has good teams! It’s tough!

Although I'm definitely not a bears fan they just had a dang good team and there coaching staff has always been solid. Unfortunately most of the last few years they've just been in the same district as view and Grove which has been to top two teams for awhile. We all knew that this year was going to be a rebuilding year for view and injury bug hit Grove like alot of us have never seen. It's hard to get better as a team when alot of your starters are riding the pine a good piece of the year. I'd say alot of people would attribute the success to this district to being down somewhat and I tend to agree. I definitely don't expect this current trend to continue with the bears winning the sca and district titles although I'm sure next year they'll be picked to win it all again. Just don't c a repeat. 42-14 tigers.
