He is going to be a good one. Tough as Nails and NO BS from Wyatt. He is Blunt and straight forward and I like that. Get on Board or go play golf. Absolutely and perhaps the smartest X and O guy around. He will get the most out of what willow has.

Some of you guys are still not being fair to the former coach. Guy had them in district championship 2 yrs ago and you all were celebrating with wins over grove and mtn view and you had a dang parade going to ava. But yes the community has been asleep and needs a new direction....

And the risk of getting a worse coach was very possible but in this case WS scored a untouched TD.

But they still do not give any credit to the guy who had them all celebrating beating Mtn view, Grove and playing in the district championship.

Not bent up at all. Just discussing things here like I think is supposed to happen. It wont be long and you guys will be whining about lack of participation here. Yet anytime things are discussed you dont like you whine and moan. It makes things the rest of the SCA hears about willow these days make way more sense. I kinda feel sorry for Coach Wyatt.

It's ok to have different opinions you all, that's what the word discussion is all about. Differences of opinions will keep this message board going but please no fights.
Bonehead I said a prayer for Schwalm last night that his new job goes well. He is going home and I've also said a prayer for Coach Wyatt coming home (if any school board member changes their mind and doesnt make official if the story is true I will....nvm). One thing I haven't done, nor I bet none of us have and I will tonight, is say a prayer for those in Kennett who are now looking for a head coach so late in a school year. Football wise they should be just fine as many were saying they could go all the way this year. Whether or not they do now that Wyatt may be gone and how many youngster's lives are influenced remains to be seen. This also makes 3 coaching hires we have had to go through in June (Fris leaving may have been in July, can't remember) and I don't wish that on anyone.

For the record, and this is mostly to the Willow fans who read all this, and I know you are here whether members or not - I know most are saying it's a done deal and many of you are waiting on ME to just come out and say it for whatever reason, and now the traffic has started about this on facebook. I keep saying "rumors if true..." because it has got to be confirmed by the school board. That board meeting is only 2 days away, so take a breath and just wait a bit. Then if it's confirmed let's party like it's 1999. Then after that celebration let's re-humble ourselves while being excited for the things that should come. Let's also not forget that he's not the only coach coming back to the SCA though Acklin isn't going to Liberty he's in Cabool. And yes, I am lecturing this to myself also.

Coaching is a high variable and multi-factor job. And in truth being a good guy and likable really has nothing to do with success per say. A lot of nice and big character guys bounce from job to job with minimal or no success. And sometimes real arse hollieee O's win and win even though a lot of people have a issue with their demeanor.
And sometimes good guys and good coaches just don't fit the community and school for various reasons. And to some degree I think WS has been a victim of that scenario. I really thought that Coach Fris a former Ary/Wyatt player and assistant coach would have success as WS he knows football. But coming in after Perkins he was night an day to his approach it appeared and many of the Players and Community didn't Cotton to his hard nosed style. Lowe who followed A&W had almost no chance of success even if he walked on water(he didn't) because he wasn't A&W and so his chance of living up to those expectations was small, add in the drop in talent at WS and Yikes why did he even take the JOB? Heck I can't even hardly Recall Heggeman other than I know WS was pretty devoid of talent at that time and the A&W hangover hit it's peak. Perkins was a OK X&O guy but again I'm not sure how much he inspired the WS program I think he got that vibe and was smart to move to WP to learn a bit more under Ary. As far as Schwalm goes I thought he put in a strong effort and appeared to be inching forward, but with that said it's pretty clear that he was not beloved in WS and the confidence in his ability had diminished. And in truth if the Community and the Players have a over all lack of confidence then perception then becomes reality and his moving on was for the best on both accounts his and WS.
Now we will See if Wyatt can bring back the Glory of WS hay day as the HC. Clearly he knows his stuff on the offensive end and is a astute tactician of the game in general, and nobody works harder than Joel Wyatt NOBODY. His approach will not be soft or New school unless he has mellowed and changed his approach, so he will expect excellence. The players will have a adjustment period I suspect. This year will be interesting in the SCA to say the least. This should make the league stronger.
Kenega has continued on MV program with nary a lost flap of the eagle wings. Swofford is as good as they come and has his program rolling. Webber is the Dean of the SCA and one of the best in the state. Spittler is a up and comer and with Acklin a even tougher foe Sloan does good things at Houston and is no cupcake Barnes is a complete unknown.... Rodgers has fielded some competitive teams and moving forward
So the SCA as a whole should be better. While we don't always have the talent that the Big 8 produces do to enrollment size and the Private school they added. Without a doubt we are competitive a lot of years.

What you say is VERY true. Just look at the SEC in college football. That conference is dominant not because of talent (yes I get they blue chips and all) but their coaching tree is strong from the root up. The worst teams in that conference could finish mid-pack anywhere else in the nation. So if Willow does rise again that makes the competition of the SCA only stronger.

Instead of posting another thread. School board made it official. We also got a new assistant from Thayer named Eric Metcalf. No not the one who played for the Cleveland Browns 😅. So welcome to Willow Mr Metcalf and WELCOME HOME JOEL WYATT!
