Also, we have nowhere to go but upwards, and we have the right head man to do just that.

On the low numbers thing - we are currently sitting at 32 football players. Not great but not end of the world either That’s more out than when Coach Schwalm took over so Coach Wyatt is already ahead in that category.

Not great but not end of the world either I have heard more in the 25-27 range, but either way it is not great especially consider Coach Wyatt said himself in the preview that they are fighting a numbers game. “We have yet to hit the 30 mark in our contact days of summer,” Wyatt said, referring to participating players. “Depth is going to be an issue. We are very thin at some positions. We have a core group of 20-22 kids who have done everything I’ve asked weight room-wise and football-wise.

it doesn't freaking matter if it 27 or 32. our numbers are low! kids that have played in past have no interest in playing anymore an that's sad. ther is more than enough talent running around to fill a good full roster. past season turned them away. an yes some just don't wanna put out the effort. cleaning up a mess is gonna take some time.

This! It takes time to build a new culture but in my opinion I’d rather have 20 kids who are fully bought in over 40 kids who aren’t giving it their full attention. I bet you’ll see numbers steadily increase over the next few seasons as coach Wyatt begins to change the culture and more students start to buy in. As a lifelong Missouri State fan, watching their football team was the worst. No matter who they hired the culture seemed to stay the same but now with Petrino as coach things are really changing and players on the outside are seeing that and want to be a part of it. I bet we’ll start to see that soon with Wyatt at Willow.

I like to give you willow guys crap and I will continue to do so, but I hope it works out for you. I have some family in Willow and football would be much better around here if Willow and Liberty could have a good rivalry where they are both good at the same time. Instead of us kicking your backsides most years.
I just don't think it is as easy as you guys seem to think. In your world it is all just a matter of coaching. You guys really think you have had the athletes to be good. Yet the last coach had them in the district championship 2 years ago, you know when you guys were on cloud 9 for beating Liberty and Grove for the first time in forever. Yet how quickly you all turned on him?
You also had the hometown boy become coach a few years ago, got the numbers way up and everyone was excited and then you guys quickly turned on him as well. Well that same guy is now leading one of the best teams in the state just a few miles south of you. I guess he suddenly figured things out.
You guys made a great hire. Coach Wyatt is no doubt one of the brightest coaching minds around and his resume speaks for itself. I hope he is able to live up to your expectations and get Willow back to some good teams.

Do we think it will be easy? No. Do we think coaching will make a difference, that I agree. If I am wrong im wrong but I'm tired of hearing we don't have the athletes and lose when these same exact kuds can run up and down a basketball court nonstop and win more than they lose. Concerning that coach who is probably going to win a state title this year, the town wasn't against him as much as certain people were and their voices were louder than mine. I stood up for him all the way. As far as 2 years ago I said I'd not respond and leave it alone. Our town went through hell that year and praises to all of you for your support. When that season was to begin we had several kids who weren't going to play and then came together for their lost teammates. Along with a guy named Preheim (now at Houston) who ran a phenomenal defense and there seemed to be animosities in the ranks (I'll leave that among them as 1 assistant told me he never told him goodbye). I admire schwalm for being there for the kids and he'd keep some all day when they didn't feel like heing in the classroom reliving it all through other kids talking. I wish that on no one. But it's been time for a change. And no im not in his fan club but i do wish him the best at ElDorado. Im sure ill get feedback on that but im really done on this and ready to move forward. As far as your talking about our rivalry, don't be surprised if all 3 Howell County schools see success this year, and thats fine by me! After all the support during the bad, and all the well wishes for our program to turn around im all in for the conference. We got 29 kids as of last night's steak dinner and auction. ALL of them are bought in and as united as a team as ive seen. They are in better shape (still got a bit to go) than any team since... (04?) Staying healthy is going to be our biggest challenge and if we do that we'll be ok. Our talking is just that. The proving grounds start next Friday, and if anyone needs a jamboree this year, it's us.

This reads like a MGHS post about Liberty circa August 2008, back in the Evil Empire years. There’s probably a Willow player reading this and getting hyped for weights, or at least I hope so! Makes me miss the old days on the board. Some of the hardcore posters from back in the day have no idea how many 17 year old kids they fueled in the off season haha!!
